Sit-On-Top Kayaks - Blue Lotus 8 ft. Kayak - Model 90112.

This kayak was formerly known as Calypso.

Price includes shipping when this kayak ships to the continental United States.

The Lotus kayak is great for beginning to intermediate kayakers. The bottom of these kayaks are flat, making tipping over very difficult. The fin design and general shape of this kayak makes it suitable for low to moderate water speeds. This unit comes with a double-side, black paddle. Because of the larger length of this kayak, an adult rider can take a younger rider out on the water. Each kayak includes a unique identification number usually on the back of the kayak. Each kayak includes a manufacturer certificate of origin. Order your sit-on-top kayaks here.

Differences between a kayak and a canoe:

One difference is with the oar that is used. Canoe oars will typically have a paddle on one side. Kayaks, on the other hand typically have a double-sided paddle to more easily assist single riders. Canoes typically support more people and are longer, whereas Kayaks are typically used for single or double riding capacity.

Perfect Recreational Kayak!
I have a pair of these kayaks and they exceeded my expectations and I'm thrilled with them. I'm sure this is not any sort of performance kayak but those cost $1000 or more so you shouldn't expect that for this kind of money. We were looking for a basic kayak to have fun with the kids while camping. We wanted it to be easy to transport so I was specifically looking for an 8 foot kayak. Most in that size don't carry large adults. I found this one at Lifetime.com that claimed it could carry 250 lbs and reviewers backed that up. I'm 5'8 and my husband is 5'11 and we're probably both around the 200 lb mark. Each of us was able to use a kayak without any issue. They rode nice and high in the water and we were able to navigate some pretty shallow water (8-10 inches in some spots). Very wide and stable, not risk of tipping over and easy to paddle. I did try getting my daughter on with me and the both of us together probably weigh 340 lbs. That submerged the kayak and we got soaked - not successful there so they kayak will carry either two kids or one adult, just keep it under the 250 lbs weight limit. We loved that it included very nice paddles as well as carrying straps. The kids had a great time and could easily fit two kids on each kayak, even though they are one person kayaks. They even had fun trying to use them as paddle boards and they were stable enough for the kids to stand up and paddle (although super slow). Because they were so short, they were easy to transport. We could fit them inside our travel trailer where two kayaks could fit down the center aisle. Because of their size and weight, we were able to get them down a steep trail to the water. Bonus, the scupper holes were a great place to snake a long cable bike lock through and secure our kayaks to a tree on the lake shore overnight and when at our camper to the bumper so we could keep them secure. Perfect camping accessory for people who like to go to lakes or the beach. Posted on Daylite Kayak Yellow

Love Them...
I purchase two of them via internet for delivery to my lake house in Maine. once I got through all the delivery issues and damage to the first order due to shipper/handler I am happy to say, when second set arrived, we took them out in lake and we are truly impressed. smooth, easy, comfortable and beautiful as well. We were surprised they even went the extra mile to include the plugs. As you can see the lake was still ice in center. Even more reason to brag about the stability of them. we never even got wet. we traveled on the open water near shore line for over a couple miles and back. I need to buy two more and I will. Extremely Fun
I have two adult Daylight ones and two youth Wave ones and they are a blast. And I keep liking them more and more. At first was surprised when they all fit in the back of my mini van (4 of the back 6 seats down) and then I was even more surprised when I was able to put the two adult ones on the top of my van with the youth ones on top of those (with the little ones inside the adult ones they have the same height profile as my roof top carrier). The adult ones do over shoot my cross bars by about 6 inches on each side (which is still within the width of the van). But I have taken 3 trips to the lake and by threading the straps through the rings that are built in the kayak, they haven't wiggled. I haven't taken them on the freeway yet, but with a couple more straps nicely placed and I am willing to do it. As for playing on the water we have gone with friends and family and everyone has loved them. Good points: very stable (my 9 year old can stand up and paddle), light weight (I carry the 2 adult ones and my wife the 2 youth ones), easy to get in and out, ease of use (even my 3 ½ year old can mostly handle the youth one by herself). Down side: retail price (just glad I got some cheaper than full price), backside can get wet unless you buy the plugs (I am usually swimming so no problem for me), sail on the adult ones moved me, but didn't seem big enough to get me moving like I had hoped (I haven't sailed much so I could be doing it wrong). Top Notch Fun Water Toy!
I took it out the second day after I bought it. Tracked straight in a slight breeze, easy to paddle. The carrying handle is centered making it easy to transport to the water. The seat for me is comfortable, I would like a hole under my seat to drain water. Takes my breath away. : ) The most awesome thing about it, is being able to get on it without tipping over. I weigh 205# and stand 6'2'. After getting off and back on several times, I recommend this to beginner to advanced. The fishing pole holder hole would be fun to modify for anyone who likes to video their trips. A small mount inserted in the hole to attach the water proof camera and paddle away. A small sail can be added, but it's not a sail boat. I didn't know a sail was an accessory, but after I did find out I wasn't sure if I would want one. If I knew before I would of ordered the sail at the purchase. Posted on Daylite Kayak Yellow

A Lot Of Fun And Cute Too
We bought one of these and tried it out in the pool and went back the next day to buy 2 more. We got a chance to take them out on the river this weekend. We got these so we can poke around lakes and watch birds and animals. This is NOT a serious kayak, but it's a heck of a lot of fun. My husband is 6'3 200 lbs and we both fit very comfortably in our kayaks. They are very easy to paddle, but don't skim through the water as quickly as a traditional kayak. They are wider and have a very flat bottom, and don't seem to have the same grip on the water. The advantage to this is that they are VERY stable - I was able to haul my 50 lb dog out of the lake and onto the kayak every time she decided she didn't want to swim anymore. When she jumped back into the water, it hardly rocked the kayak. We got these because they actually fit INSIDE our GMC Acadia SUV. We can put two of them inside, which saves on gas mileage. For camping, they fit INSIDE our tiny (18 foot) travel trailer. Another selling point is that they are MADE IN THE U. S. A. Yeah! Our kayaks came with a small triangular sail that is really fun! We flew along with just a bit of wind. Using the oar as a rudder gives you complete control. I wasn't able to tack back and forth against the wind. I'm sure that I don't have the skill to do that yet, but I think it would be difficult with this kayak because of the extremely flat bottom. We were easily able to row upstream on a very gentle river. It seems to be well suited for either going downstream, or paddling around a lake. That's all we want to do anyway. The seat back has a cap at the rear so you can use it for watertight storage. It would probably hold a windbreaker or your lunch. It also has a good sized storage area with elastic cords behind the seat. It holds up to 250 pounds, so you could carry quite a bit with you. It has a built in cup holder, a fishing pole holder, and a rest for the oars. If you want a fun boat to play around with, this is perfect. Posted on Daylite Kayak Yellow

Keeping The Fun In Families
I have 4 kayaks and 2 paddle boards. Simple and fun entertainment. Easy to transport. Light in weight. We have had more fun as a family the last 2 summers than many before. It had brought family and friends together to enjoy a great day at the lake in the sun. They are durable and built tough. They have been dropped and dragged with no damage. We love them and can't wait till summer rolls around again. Thanks for the amazing memories Lifetime!!!

Perfect Small Kayak
It is small, reasonably light, fun in the water, and it still float with me, my wife, and my dog on it at the same time! (even though it was quite squished). The only thing I didn't like is trying to carry it for long distances. There isn't really a great way to carry it. So I would just hold it over my head, but that means the kayak is pretty much the only thing I could carry. Besides that, it is awesome
