Kodiak Canvas Tents 6098 9 x 8 ft. Flex-bow

Free shipping to the lower 48 States.

The Kodiak Canvas 9 x 8 Tent is great whether you are headed to the campground with your family in the mountains or by a beach, or elk camp with your hunting buddies. This rugged, all-season tent is great for the occasion. Made with premium grade, Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas (walls: 8.5 oz , roof: 10 oz). The tight weave and silicone finish make the canvas tent watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation, and mugginess. Go ahead and touch the inside walls during a downpour - this canvas will not wick water keeping you and your possessions dry.

The Flex-Bow frame has tempered, spring steel rods that keep the tent taut, and robust 1 inch steel tube poles that will hold up to fierce winds. The floor material is a super-duty, puncture resistant, 13 oz vinyl with welded seams that keeps water out. Easy, one-person set-up takes only a few minutes after you have it staked out. The steep walls and 6 foot high ceiling provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. Two large doors with top rated #10 YKK zippers give convenient access to front and back. Four windows, and two vents allow ample air-flow. Windows and vents have no-see-um screen mesh, keeping out the smallest pests. A large awning provides shade and a covered entry. The handy large storage bag means no cramming into an undersized bag. Hefty 12 inch steel stakes included.

This tent includes a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer, Kodiak.

What would the layout look like if 4 people were using this kodiak canvas tent?

Several variables will have to be considered to get an accurate estimate of layout for 4 users. A typical sleeping bag is about 6 ft. long and is typically about 20 inches wide when in use. Based on these 2 assumptions, The sleeping bags will occupy about 40 square feet of the 72 square feet available. If we gave each sleeping bag some space between them, the bags will likely occupy the entire 8 ft. width. If this is the case, the sleeping bags would occupy 48 square feet. Assuming this worse case scenario, that still leaves about 24 square feet. Many campers like to have some mobile space around the edge of the tent by the door, so leaving 4 square feet for an exit should still leave plenty of space for gear storage.

What a winner here. Easy to put up, the best of materials and built with quality to make this product last. Took it on hunting trip for a week in lots of the elements of rain and this tent did not leak anywhere. This tent was well thought out due to its added features that other tents do not included. You will not go wrong with this tent. A 5 star no doubt about it.

5 out of 5 stars Great canvas tent
by eba from Ventura, CA on 11/3/2009

If you are looking for a canvas tent this is a good choice. Unique setup but after one time no problem. Straight walls gives plenty of ceiling height. Canvas material heavy, park close to where you are camping, but canvas insulates better than nylon.

5 out of 5 stars Great Tent
by Big Trail from PA on 5/12/2015

I did a lot of research on this tent and this tent has held true to all of the other reviews. We bought the 9X8 deluxe model. It was pretty easy to set up even by myself and I am a 57" 140lb woman. With my husband, we can set it up in under 10 minutes. We love the amount of space for us and our 70lb lab. It is a little heavy (dont even think of using for backpacking!), but the poles and tent are in separate bags which makes handling it a little easier. Also, the 9X8 comes with the standard duffle bag...the other deluxe bag looks really nice, but this duffle bag is absolutely fine. I have had no problems with fitting the tent in the bag. Theres actually enough room to put a mallet and tarp in there too. Competitive Edge is by far the place to order. We got our tent within 4 days and we live on the east coast! They also were courteous enough to call and double check the shipping address since it was not the same as my billing address. Great product and company!

4 out of 5 stars Kodiak 9x8
by Tom from Sparta, WI on 10/24/2014

I bought this because Springbar, while they offer a similar size, doesnt offer the interior height that the Kodiak of this size offers (I dont like crouching) . I have a 14x10 Springbar and love it but needed a smaller size for solo boating and kayak trips. I was apprehensive about a Kodiak but bought it anyway. Turns out I really like this tent. Well made although Im still not sold on the canvas stake loops. Over the summer I used it for a total of about 42 days. The only complaint I have is that it started molding on the canvas around the tensioners that spread the upper canvas. Not sure why,I always keep it clean and dry. When not in use, like my Springbar, I place a 100cf dehumidifier in the middle when I roll it up to suck up any remaining moisture. Still, Overall Im pleased and would recommend this size to people who need a smaller tent for portability and the ability to stand upright...

First impression: a very well made tent! I have only put up long enough to season and to check out quality as our trip is planned in a couple of weeks. I will update my review after the trip. Competitive Edge was fast to ship and their web site is easy to navigate.

The tent arrived quickly and it was easy to assemble. Quality fabric and strong steel poles. It also arrived with a complimentary floor canvas and a real value. Very roomy inside and most comfortable for 4 people. The company is a snap to work with!

5 out of 5 stars awesome tent
by BConk from Missouri on 7/2/2013

I have been researching tents sense my son joined boy scouts and I signed up to be an assistant leader. Believe me spending that much for a tent did mot make much financial sense. But after our last camp out and slightly strong wind broke my nylon tent pole I thought more about spending the money especially if we are going to stay in scouts. I ordered my 4 person Kodak bow flex tent the week prior to our first week long scout camp. The tent came Thursday and we left for camp Sunday. I got home from work and set it up in the back yard Thursday in about 15 minutes, and then took it down in about the same time. I could not believe how easy it was, definitely faster than they nylon tent. Camp went great not one complaint. We had a storm roll through camp one night about 1 am. 60 mile an hour winds, lightning, heavy rain not a drop of rain in the tent even with the front window down slightly. The tent hardly even shook, not like the nylon tent that would almost wrap around you in that kind of wind. Long story short I am so glad I bought this tent. I am looking forward to many years of camping, and competitive edge products was great to deal with.
