Lifetime portable basketball hoop model 1558 features a 52-inch polycarbonate backboard, an orange Slam-It rim, a 3.5-inch powder coated round pole, and a 35-gallon portable base. Portable basketball hoops are ideal for setting up your home basketball court when a fixed location for your system is not available. The 1558 is easily rolled around on the built-in wheels on the base. The polycarbonate backboard provides a resilient surface that holds up well to rough play. The backboard height is adjsutable up and and down using the Action Grip adjuster from Lifetime Products. The Action Grip uses a handle mounted to the back of the main pole of the system. Simply squeeze the trigger and push up or pull down on the handle to raise and lower the backboard. The rim height will adjust from 7.5 feet to 10 feet in 6-inch increments.
This product includes a 5-year warranty from Lifetime Products. All metal parts of this goal are powder-coated to help resist rusting. All major components of this system are made in the U.S.A.

These two systems are almost entirely identical. The only difference is the graphic on the backboards. All other parts - backboard size, materials, features, dimensions - are identical.

Quality basketball system. Took me and my wife several hours to put together but if you take your time, read the directions and do it with someone it is relatively simple. Shipping was fast and the price was the cheapest I found.

Item was delivered right to my garage door and the box was fully intact. It took about 4 hours to put together by myself and I found the directions to be very clear. The hardware was even packaged in separate packages based on what they were for.
The product itself appears to be sturdy after filling the base with sand. My 9 year old son loves playing on it and changing the height is extremely easy. Great product for the price!
Additional info: After realizing 2 days after I put the hoop together that the height adjustment did not snap into the 10 ft position, I called competitive edge, who then sent an email directly to lifetime regarding my concern. It was after business hours when I called, but the Lifetime representative called me the next morning and advised me on exactly what to do to remedy the problem. I was extremely impressed by the customer service received by both Competitive Edge and Lifetime and have recommended the product to 2 other people who are purchasing it. (Updated on 8/31/2012.)

AFter searching all around, internet and instore I found competitive edge products that was offering this product at the best price. The basketball system arrived quickly and when I arrived I thought it has some problems so I called and immediately they were going to replace all the parts that I thought were with problems (It was my first time buying a basketball system). After a detailed inspection we confirmed with lifetime support that all was complete and no problems were present. My husband and I assembled the basketball system. It only took us 3 hours, and I was afraid after reading reviews of people that took 7 or more hours to assemble. Overall it was a very smooth process we enjoyed very much, all pieces were present very well detailed instructions, with pictures. I recommend this product..it looks beautiful outside my house, it offers stability when playing, and the customer service of the company excellent.
