Other waterproof tents will easily become hot and humid inside making them very uncomfortable, but not so with Kodiak Canvas Tents. Storm Flaps are on the outside and zip up from the outside. Go ahead and touch the inside walls during a downpour - this canvas will not wick water. The Canopy/Awning is sewn onto the roof and is supported by a sturdy metal frame. The sturdy 1 inch steel tube poles with welded corner braces will hold up to the weather. The Kodiak canvas wall tent floor is a super-duty, puncture resistant, 16 oz vinyl with welded seams that keeps water out. The tall ceiling (7.5 ft at peak) and steep walls (5.5 ft at sides) provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. **This tent is not built for severe winds Kodiak Cabin Tents Specs: In general canvas is stronger, more durable, will hold up better to UV. Typically a good canvas tent can last 2-3 times longer than a synthetic tent. Another big advantage with our Hydra-Shied canvas is that it is breathable. This lessens mugginess, and condensation so you are more comfortable. Also Hydra-Shield is very waterproof. It will not leak or wick water. The way to maintain is it to put it away dry. If you do need to spot treat it for waterproofing use a silicone based water sealant like Kiwi Camp dry. You should rarely have to do this.
The disadvantage is weight and cost. It does weigh more and cost a bit more. If you are not carrying the tent on your back canvas is the only way to go!
