Lifetime Products 60005 Garden Shed 10 x 8 Side Entry Outdoor Storage Shed.

When setting up your yard storage, why settle for a shed that will require your regular attention to maintain? The Lifeitme 60005 garden shed features a maintenance free design. The walls, roof, and floors are made with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic. HDPE will not fade, crack, or peel. No need to repaint. This shed will continue to look great for years to come. With an internal latch and exterior padlock loop, the doors of this shed can be secured to protect the contents in your shed. Steel reinforcements provide the roof and walls with superior strength. The snow load capacity of the roof measure a sturdy 23 lbs. per square foot. Store your yard equipment right with a Lifetime garden shed.

This shed comes with a 10-year factory warranty from Lifetime Products.

What use is a Lifetime Garden Shed good for?

Garden Sheds have a different layout than the typical Lifetime storage shed. Garden sheds have the entrance on the length side, which is the extend-able side, instead of on the width side. This allows you to access the shed from the center instead of the end of the shed. This layout makes parts of the shed more accessible depending on how you want to store your products. Typical uses for this shed would be storing gardening supplies and boxes because all of those things can be stored up against the walls on all sides of the shed. If you need to store a motorized device, such as an ATV, you would do better to stick with a regular Lifetime shed. This particular shed has all the steel reinforcements within the walls. The roof trusses are all steel as well making this a great shed in areas with heavy snow fall.

Check your local building codes and city ordinances before ordering. Some cities might require a building permit. Lifetime garden sheds will require some sort of support structure under the shed. A wood framework or a cement slab is typically used.

What size of slab do I need for this shed to install properly?

The actual dimensions of your shed (at its widest and longest points) are 8' x 10'. Ensure you select a site that will accommodate these measurements. The base of the shed is slightly smaller than this, so you will need to create a level surface that is at least 93.5" x 118.25". We recommend using a level cement or patio style surface. This will provide the best long term performance for your shed. Note: shed extension kits are available for the shed. Please consider possible shed expansion when planning the site for your shed. If you decide to build a wooden platform you will use the same dimensions of 93.5" x 118.25" and studs that are 16 inches apart. The owners manual will give you detailed steps on how to do this.

Do you install these sheds or can you point me in the right direction?

What is the difference between the two shed models 60005 and 60001?

The major fundamental difference between the two sheds are the doors. Model number 60005 has one set of double doors whereas model number 60001 has two sets of double doors. That is evident in the picture. All other differences are minor. 60005 includes two 90 inch-long shelves and two corner shelves. 60001 includes one 90 inch shelf and four corner shelves.

What kind of foundation do I build for the 60005 storage shed?

Before beginning the assembly of your shed, you must pour or construct a platform. There are three types: concrete, wood frame, and road base in wooden frame or pea gravel filled into a wood frame. The actual dimensions of your shed, at its widest and longest points, our 96 inches by 100 inches. Please ensure you select a site that will accommodate these measurements. The floor dimensions are slightly smaller than this; therefore, you will need to create a level surface that is 93 ½ inches by 118 ¼ inches. These foundations create a level surface. If you assemble the shed on grass or on an unlevel surface you may run into issues during assembly with the doors closing properly. These foundations alleviate such concerns.

Do I need to be present at the time of delivery?

Yes. The shed is delivered via a curbside delivery, which requires you to sign for the delivery. Also, the driver does not assist with moving the packages. Please take note of the package sizes and weights in the shipping tab to help you plan ahead to have sufficient help present to move the boxes where you need them on your property.

Do I need a building permit for my Lifetime shed?

Building permits, codes, and regulations are handled by your city and state. We do not know if a specific town needs or does not need you to get a building permit. Please check with your city before ordering to make sure you comply with all requirements.

What color is this shed?

Lifetime Products calls the color desert tan. Essentially, the panels of the shed are different shades of brown, with a slight grayish tint. The walls are the lightest complexion, followed by the doors, and then the roof.

What should I do if my shed shows up with damaged or missing parts?

Please inspect the shipment at the time of delivery and note any damage with the driver before the driver leaves. After which, let us know via email or by calling in. We will get whatever pieces are damaged replaced for you at no additional cost. If your garden shed is missing parts, you can contact Lifetime Products customer service at 1-800-225-3865 and get the missing parts shipped to you at no additional cost.

Do have offer installation services?

No. We only ship the product. Installation and assembly are up to the customer.

How long does this shed take to assemble?

Assembly times vary depending on the the amount of people assembling the shed and the ability of those working. Generally, if 2 people were working on this shed, assembly will likely take about 8 hours.

Do I need a foundation?

The floor thickness of this shed is 3/4-inch. The floor is not a weight-bearing floor and will require some sort of support structure underneath. Typically, a cement slab or wood framework is used as the support.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic product
by FredN from Chicago, IL on 5/12/2012
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
I love this shed. The skylights offer great light, the vents seem to work on a warm day, and the looks far exceed the appearance of any other shed I considered buying. The only drawback - if you are in a higher crime area, the windows allow others to see the contents of your shed, and the doors feel as if they could be pried open (via hinges) in a minute or so. Otherwise, it is lockable and strong.

5 out of 5 stars Great shed and free shipping!
by Ricomondo from Crown Point, Indiana on 4/4/2012
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
This was a very well built shed and great price from competitive edge products. I read these same reviews before purchasing. The shed came in two large boxes on a 7 ft long pallet. The driver used a lift gate to get them to ground level and then used a pallet jack to wheel it into my garage. Now for the assembly: I unpacked both boxes in my garage and checked off items in the instruction manual. Make sure you do this, in case you have any damaged or missing parts. Turns out, I was short one small bag of hardware ( for the tool hanging kit) not essential shed building hardware. I pre assembled the roof trusses, front doors and locking hardware and the skylights and windows. I then assembled the shed by myself with the help of my 5 y/o son in about 8.5 hours. My son was essential in putting pressure on the walls from the opposite side as I assembled the walls. When it came to the roof panels; I attached the front panels ( the ones with the clear skylights) to the truss and then put the truss in place, and this worked for me better as again as I was by myself. I had no issues putting the shed together, and this was put on a concrete pad I had poured. After assembly, I secured it to the base using 2 1/4" anchors that you use a 3/8 masonry drill to make the hole, then you tap the anchor into place and tighten a nut on the top to fasten it. The next day it rained, and I did notice water had leaked in from the two front windows the are on either side of the front doors. I have re tightened the screws and will see if this fixes it. If not, Ill have to use some clear caulk. And yes, Lifetime did send the missing bag of hardware two days later. I love this shed! and would have liked to get the 15 ft wide version, but my subdivision limits the size of our sheds. You wont go wrong with this shed! Get it done faster with two people, but I did not want to wait till the weekend for help which is why I did it myself. And read the instructions many times over!

4 out of 5 stars bonding time with the hubby
by lynned from Columbus, OH on 12/20/2011
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
It looks great but the process was excruciating. Hubby took a one day project and turned it into a week. The directions were not simple. You had to keep referring to the packing list to make sure you were using the right screws and materials. I would definitely do it again but not in the winter with the snow coming down. Enjoying being able to have the car in the garage.

5 out of 5 stars 1.5 days to build, plus foundation
by tim from riverview, Fl on 2/3/2015
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
Bought this shed as it was a nice size and looked more like a cottage than a shed. Prior to the shed arriving I read the instructions on building the foundation. Could not find a store that had Pressure treated wood 2x4s that were rated for ground contact. Ended up doing the outer frame plus two internal joists in 4X4 wood that was ground contact rated. Not wanting to do this again in a few years, I also bought the best sealer I could find and sealed all the wood including both sides of the 3/4 inch plywood. Foundation came out pretty good. Though I stuck tightly to the dimentions in the manual when the shed went on it was a little wider than the 118.25 inch width. Not a big deal but Im glad that the plywood overlapped on the side and back. After placing the floor I then marked and cut the plywood to fit. Follow the instructions, in order, and all will be well. The only part I had trouble with was putting the self tapping screws in the pole that is at the door hinge. I could not get through that pole so gave up. Not sure how critical this is, but the doors open and close find. Lastly, dont even think of using a electric screw driver. Some of the screws you can tighten well and others you strip quickly. I did all mine by hand and only stripped a couple. PS. Your wood foundation is going to cost you a couple hundred bucks above the price of the shed to do. Enjoy! (Updated on 2/3/2015.)

3 out of 5 stars Life Time Garden Shed
by Scaramj from New Jersey on 7/18/2013
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
In May of 2013 I purchased a Lifetime Shed. The overall process of procuring it and getting delivery was great. Prior to receiving it I downloaded the installation instructions to familiarize myself with them. As suggested constructed a sturdy wood foundation to put the unit on. Very glad I did that due to the soft sponge flooring material that is standard for this unit. I was not only disappointed in the density and quality of the floor but felt the walls were somewhat flimsy as well. Steel lined or framed is a misnomer. Assembly went as planned took a full six hours to build. My unit has the little truss A Frame on the front which was a little tricky to understand from the instructions. Even though I was able to get everything to line up on the truss roof it still leaked when it rained and I had to chalk the seam to eliminate it. The last frustration is with the door. Love the look but the plastic reacts to the heat and comes out of shape forcing the door open. The lock assembly completely does not work but I was able to modify enough to get a small latch and then use a hook in the location you would put a pad lock. Overall the unit looks great, several minor issues with quality, I do not think you could compare with a wood shed that could be 2 or 3 thousand higher in price. So just remember you get what you paid for and you wont be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars wrong part
by chris from Ofallon, MO on 5/11/2013
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
We are impressed with the construction of your product, however, we are frustrated by the fact that the floor panels were not correct. the two middle pieces are identical and not opposites to accommodate the two doors. The number provided only works on limited hours during the 5 day workweek. So here we sit w/ a foundation that we just built and tons of plastic panels and pieces scattered throughout our backyard-still no shed-please advise. FYI, we purchased this from Sam's Club. It would be nice if we can pick up the correct panel locally instead of waiting a long time for delivery. It would be best if we can go back to Sam's Club and take one of theirs from their inventory.

4 out of 5 stars Love the shed, hate the directions
by Dot from New Jersey on 9/16/2012
Recommends it to Friends: Yes
I had read many reviews before ordering this shed, and ordered because it was a good value and sounded easy to put together. However, we did not find it to be as easy as others implied and found the main problem to be that the parts are not clearly marked with the code numbers as in the directions. Other than that,we are very happy with the end product and how nice it looks and how much storage is in it! Also, the FREE shipping was a very big bonus.
