Meet the newest member of the Kodiak Canvas lineup. The Cabin Lodge tent is where rugged meets refinement. Made with high performance, Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas. The tight weave and silicone finish make this canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess that are common with synthetic tents. The sewn-in floor is a tough 13.5 oz vinyl with welded seams, that keeps water out. The tall ceiling (7.5 ft. at peak) and vertical wall design (4 ft. at sides) provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. The large front door means no crouching when you come and go. Six large windows provide openness, and excellent airflow. Windows can be opened and closed from inside the tent, and feature no-see-um, screen mesh that keeps the smallest bugs out. A covered storm window and vents can be opened to circulate outside air, even when rainy. The door and windows feature top-rated YKK zippers. This design, boasting a frame with 1-inch, galvanized, steel tubing, will hold up to strong winds and even snow loads. A stove jack allows for use of a wood burning stove, so you can stay warm and cozy. The 8x8 ft. enclosed awning accessory (sold separately) increases the space by 44%, and provides a nice area to get out of the weather or store extra gear. A zippered storage bag and hefty, 12-inch, steel tent stakes are included. Requires two adults for setup. Limited lifetime warranty.

Not your average tent
Too many positive to list, here are a few: This tent is spacious enough for a family of 4 with 2 pets. We use bunk-bed style cots which frees up even more floor space. The tent stays cool with the white roof and ample windows. I really like the design and construction of the windows and zippers. The windows are sort of a second layer, which means you aren't fighting the main lining when opening and closing. The floor is extra thick, so with the tarp underneath, we don't hesitate to stand up the tent over roots or small rocks. So far 100% dry on the inside after several nights with rain. Thankfully the canvas has a separate bag from the poles which make each bag more manageable. All the poles are steel which is a nice change from the flimsy aluminum poles. Obviously being 12x12, this tent has a big footprint, so it can be tricky to find a place with enough room to set it up. I can see this tent lasting many years with multiple trips each year.

Love it!
We love our Kodiak Lodge tent. It did not take long to set up and was very roomy and comfortable for our family. The large windows helped keep it cool during the warm days. Can’t wait to use again for our two week beach camping out, when we will add the front awning.

Alright folks, I'm gonna break this thing down for you. I set this tent up and tested it, in one of the most inhospitable places on earth; aside from like the Arctic and places like that. Not only did this tent hold up during 50mph winds, its stayed completely warm. The canvas was far superior to any nylon tent I grew up using. The rain we got for three days straight was a complete non factor. Even with the snow, it only accumulated at the edges of the tent, but never stuck to it like you would typically see with a nylon tent. I simply went out after it slowed down or stopped and brushed it off. This tent quality wise is second to none. Now, let's get to the only two things I didn't like. The "brakes" they use are generally okay. But given the environment I was in, a couple of them slipped and had to be re-tightened. To get around this issue, I always carry electrical zip ties when I go camping. They always come in handy. So the best thing to do is when you get the brakes set where you want them on the rope; I zipped tied the base of the black brake around the rope and brake to hold them together. This worked perfectly. The second thing I didn't think was designed or thought out to perfection like the rest of the tent was the inside support pole that goes in the tent. I personally would have designed it to have the loops that are sewn into the tent facing 90 degrees where they are currently designed. This would help if the center pole on the tent moved side to side in the wind like it did with mine and would support the tent no matter the sideways movement. Other than the two minor issues, this tent is phenomenal. With a little ingenuity and thought, I was able to adapt to these couple issues with no problem. Great tent and worth the money!!!

Awesome tent!
I set up the tent in my backyard as soon as I received it, and I wasn't disappointed! Money well spent. The construction is heavy-duty, it is completely waterproof, very spacious, and a breeze to set-up! (Even for one person) I foresee many great camping adventures with this tent. Thank you CEP for your video reviews and your great customer support!I greatly recommend this tent.

We wanted a tent that we could set up at the beginning of the summer and take down when the camping season is over. This tent more than fills the bill. Easy to set up, roomy enough to walk in, great views because all sides have windows, and the storm window is the icing on the cake.

Really nice tent so far I'll try and add more to this review as I use it more. Used it three days during December for hunting. It was nice outside Hi's in 50's and lows in the upper 20's. I used a camp chef stove and also the z top sleeping bag with a cot. Warmed up nicely enough to fall asleep in comfort. The fire burned out during the night but woke up not one bit cold. The tent was easy to set up with one person. . . . . . . about an hour. The floor is tough. Let the dogs in a couple times. Little bit of a struggle to get it into the tent bag after tear down. The tent bag might need to be a little bit bigger. Maybe with use it will get easier. Competitive edge shipped it quickly and was at Fedex 2 business days.

A Truly Great Tent
This is a great tent. I am able to get the Spruce stove, two large cots, a small table and two chairs in the tent with ample room to move around. The initial setup took about 40-minutes and the shoulder of one of the center upright poles bent during the process. Customer Service quickly sent a replacement. I would highly recommend this tent and Competitive Edge. I am now a happy camper!

Q: Do you think 4 cots would fit in the 12x12 kodiak cabin tent with the stove?
Asked by: Bubba Brack - 10/18/2020
A: They will fit yes, but you will need to take into consideration how much gear and space you want to fit in as well. If you are going to be outside the tent most of the day then space isn't as big of an issue, but if you are spending a lot of your time in the tent for warmth/ to get out of the rain etc, then having extra space will be more important. The easiest way to visualize what will fit is to measure out a 12x12 space on your lawn, or in a room, then set up your gear in that space.

Q: Can you leave it up year round ?
Asked by: Carol - 10/16/2020
A: If you are using your tent for extended use situations, periods of continuous use for three weeks or greater, there are some precautions you should be aware of in order to maximize the life of your tent.

1) Canvas Rot: This occurs when the canvas at the bottom of the tent is in constant contact with moist ground. The canvas never dries out and eventually will begin to rot or decay in the areas of contact. Even if there is no precipitation, this can be caused by moisture from dew. Prevention: For extend use, make sure the tent is placed in an area that is well drained and dry. It could be placed on sand, gravel, or a slated wooden platform. Extended use on grassy areas or moist soil should be avoided.

2) Mildew: Is more prone to grow in humid climates in dark or shady areas. Prevention: Opening the tent up daily and letting it air out. When possible, place the tent in an area where it can receive a couple hours of direct sunlight a day.

3) UV damage. While your Kodiak Canvas tent is much less susceptible to UV deterioration than many synthetic fabrics, over time it will eventually degrade the canvas. Life expectancy in full sunlight should exceed one year of continuous use. Possibly much more than a year—there are many factors. Prevention: Placing your tent an area where it receives full sunlight for only a few hours a day is best, and will prolong its useful life.

Q: Hello, Is this tent waterproof out of the box, or are other steps required to make it waterproof? Also, is this tent recommended for use during the summer time?
Asked by: Marcos - 2/10/2020
A: Yes, it's perfect for summer with all those 7 large screened windows. It is recommended that you season the tent, but most customers do not. According to the owner's manual: After initial set-up, it is recommended that you spray the tent with water and allow it to dry
completely. This ?"seasons" the canvas. The water causes the canvas to shrink slightly, closing the needle holes where the canvas was stitched. This process is only required once.
