Q: How do I pre-order the Kodiak canvas lodge 6170 tent?
A: Unfortunately, we are not taking pre-orders on the lodge tent 6170. Please join the waiting list to be notified once it's available to preorder. Thank you for your patience.
Q: I was wondering do you have a fireproof roof fly to protect sparks from damaging the roof or awning? Just asking!!
A: Kodiak doesn't make anything like that.
Q: I am wondering is the March shipment in yet? I have received my Kodiak 6170 and ground tarp, but the 1672 enclosure is due around last of February first of March. I have not received any updates unless I ask. So I was wondering the shipments for March are in yet?
A: I was surprised i got my tent and tarp 3 weeks after ordering. Hope you get yours soon. Its ridiculous taking this long. Covid has been blamed and partials crews in the warehouses. Well the plandemic is over get them back to work. I want my stuff.
A: Sorry for the late response. I ordered on December 27 2020. I got my tent and ground tarp. Have yet to receive my awning and enclosure.
A: You should have received an email update earlier today.
A: Hey Chris,
Wondering when you made your purchase for your tent and accessories. I hope you get it soon!
A: At least you have your tent and ground tarp. I ordered my tent, ground tarp, stove mat, and the 8 by 8 enclosure on December 22. I haven't received SQUAT! Finger's crossed for next week (4-15) but not holding my breath...
Q: Is there a promo code I could use?
No Answers have been submitted yet.
Q: I’m ready to purchase this tent. Just have a problem waiting until end of May for shipment. Is their anyway to speed it up?
A: I'm sorry, but they ship on a first-come first serve basis in the next container is completely sold out. The next available container is the May shipment and that will absolutely sell out far before that date rolls around. Sorry for the bad news. Feel free to contact us with any other questions.
A: Is there a promo code that I could use? Does military discount apply?
Q: Please tell me where the Kodak tent is made. Thank you, Kimballdunbar
A: Kodiak is a US-based company, but this tent is manufactured in China.
Q: I am unclear on the frame for this tent. Would you please describe it?
A: A great way to see the frame is to download the instruction manual to see the skeleton diagram. The instructions can be downloaded, but clicking on the yellow instruction tab. It's the last one on the row of "Description, Customer Reviews, Questions and Answers, " etc.
Q: I have two questions, are you able to request were the opening is placed for the stove pipe? The second is, can you get the tent without a floor?
A: You cannot specify where you want to stovepipe-is simply is where it is. The tent is not sold without a floor. May I ask why you would not want to floor out of curiosity?
Q: I am interested in the 12x12 tent with the stove jack. Do you also make a fireproof fly that goes over the outside roof to protect it from ambers?
A: I thought the same thing. Unfortunately they dont. I have bought a 16x20 tarp to put over it. Just a little bigger than needed but does in shedding away water from the tent, over hangs by 2 feet on either side and both ends . I cut an opening for the stove jack.
A: Im going to tarp mine. Im spending way to much money not too.
A: It seems to me they would have some sort of protection on the roof. Dang sure Ambers are going to hit the roof.
Q: Can I use the timberline stove package on this tent from colorado cylinder stoves? Will it affect anything?
A: I use the Alpine cylinder stove work very well.
Q: Do I need a fly to protect the roof from sparks?
A: Please allow me to refer you to the manufacturer's customer service where they should be able to assist you with this. Here is the contact info: Kodiak Canvas - tel. 801-510-3983, their website is kodiakcanvas.com and their email address is [email protected]
Q: What are some options for a wood stove? You guys should sell the recommended wood stove for this tent in my opinion.
A: We recommend the Colorado Cylinder Stoves - the Spruce model.
Q: Hi there, I see that there is pipe in the center of the tent.. It isn't shown in the 3d picture, but very clear to see in the video. Is this pipe just for set up purpose or is it there to stabilize the center of the tent? This is unfortunately going to be my deciding factor on whether to buy it or not,..
A: Yes, it can be removed. It is basically just there to provide extra support if you are expecting snow or wind. It telescopes so can be stored away inside the tent somewhere if not needed.
Q: Once receiving the tent we are only given 24 hours to check it out and make sure there is no damage to the products sent during shipping because that's what the carrier requires, The problem here is if i receive it during the week and with my work schedule i would not be able to meet that dead line. I would not be able to set it up until the weekend. Is there any exceptions to that rule. I just don't want have a damaged product and not be able to send back without massive shipping costs.
A: We’ve yet to have a single 6170 damaged in shipping. If it is damaged we will get you taken care of - just let us know.
A: Supposed to get my tent tomorrow before the end of the day. Cant set it up until the weekend. Im standing on your assurance if there is any damage that it will be taken care of.
Q: Hey!!is it possible to ship the tent with some Upgrades to Germany??thanx for Info!!ciao Chris
A: For international shipment please email charley at [email protected], or text him at 801-871-5891
Q: I saw a comment of putting a Kodiak tent on a slatted wooden platform. Does a slatted wooden platform need to have gaps between slats or can the slats be fitted against one another?
A: It cannot be erected without the stakes and guy ropes so as long as you have those in place whether you use washers and lagbolts securing it to the wooden platform you should be fine. I would not recommend having gaps in the studs as it makes the floor vulnerable to damage from the feet of the cot, stove, etc. You'll need to take the necessary precautions if you are using a stove such a s stove mat, etc.
Q: Can the awning be ordered at a later time separate from the tent?
A: Yes, it is model 1672 and can be ordered later.
Q: How long does this tent take to set up?
A: it takes about 20 minutes
the first time probably takes closer to 30 minutes
it's even faster if you have two people
Q: Hello, Does this come with a tent fly? Thanks!
A: This tent has an 8x8 awning, an optional 1672 wall enclosure that basically increases the size of the tent.
Q: Hi love the tent and the awning set up however is there any screening on the doors? I do not see any on the videos or the pictures.
A: There are no screened windows on the doors. There are a lot of windows, but not in the doors themselves.
A: At the time of this writing it is on backorder until March 7. If you wait until that time it will most definitely be sold out.
Q: What is the wind Rating on this tent?
A: There is no official wind-rating published, but we have tested them up to 39mph and they held up just fine. It could handle more, but in the 6 month test that's the fastest wind we ran into.
Q: When do I have to have my money in by
A: Currently, you are charged at the time of order on our main site, however, we have a beta site that will let you order now and charges you a couple of days before the shipment is expected in. You can check out our Canvas Camping Tents 6170 tent
Q: I just purchased a 12x12 with awning and tarp, cant wait to receive it. One question i forgot to ask, Does the wood stove affect the canvas over time in any way?
A: As long as you burn at a temperature that isn't too hot it won't affect the canvas.
Q: What kind of maintenance/care does this tent require?
A: Store it dry and it requires very little maintenance. Over the years the sun can undo the waterproofing aspect, but people can usually go ten years without retreating it with a waterproofing spray. It can get dirty, but aside from sweeping it off with a broom you rarely have to do anything special.
Q: Ok just read some questions and answer. One question stood out that im thinking may be a reason not to buy this tent. In the question it was mentioned that water wicked up thru the floor. Why in the world would you have a floor that water can wick up thru.? This may be a deciding factor for me. I have a tent from one of your competitors now with an issue of water flooding into the tent thru the stove jack. Seems i may not be bettering my self to buy this one. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this issue? I really like the look of this tent and everything i see with it, but i dont want water getting in my tent.
A: I've never heard of water wicking up through the floor. It's not even possible as the floor is vinyl. There's got to be a misunderstanding or something...unless they punctured their floor, but the vinyl is a bit pliable and forgiving and difficult to puncture. It's far superior to most tent floors which are just a crunchy-sounding tarp of sorts.
Q: I love the looks of this tent but I want to put it on a horse an pack it in is a 10 by10 available or is it possible to make the poles break down smaller??
A: There isn't an easy way to horse pack this particular tent model. Most customers go with the two person tent model 6086 which packs impressively small. Small for a canvas tent at least.
Q: How to purchase Wood Stove?
Do you carry wood stove too?
Give me the information and details.
A: You can get the woodstove from coloradocylinderstoves.com, it's the spruce model.
Q: is this tent in stock and if so could it be delivered before January 10th to San Jose California? Thank You
A: It seems like the tent is back-ordered at the moment. Very popular piece of equipment. They’re having a hard time keeping it on the shelves.
A: I talked to a rep this past Monday and was told that it would be around 3 weeks for delivery.
Q: Will a queen sized mattress fit in this tent?
A: Queen mattresses are about 5'x6.5' so it would work just fine.
Q: If I pre-order the 6170 by the 12-3-20 when will get my tent ?
A: It's out (at the time of this post) until 12/14 and ships out at that time. Tracking will be emailed to you automatically just as soon as it ships out.
Q: Just got back from a 9 day camping trip on the Olympic Peninsula in the rain forest. The tent held up fine with only a little water wicking through the floor. It rained hard. My question is what is the best way to dry the tent when you get home.? I tried to drape it over my boat in the carport, but it did not seem to be drying. I ended up setting it up in the back yard, lighting a fire daily until we get a sunny day. It is very wet where I live, so any advice on drying would be helpful.
A: Figured it out. After drying the tent using the stove, I took it down and brought it in the house and dried it out using a dehumidifier. After a couple days the tent was ready for storage.
A: Can do what we did to our son's Jeep after realizing door gaskets needed replacing and floors were extremely wet. We parked it in our carport, and plugged in our large dehumidifier unit over night. Worked like a charm...
Q: Do you think 4 cots would fit in the 12x12 kodiak cabin tent with the stove?
A: They will fit yes, but you will need to take into consideration how much gear and space you want to fit in as well. If you are going to be outside the tent most of the day then space isn't as big of an issue, but if you are spending a lot of your time in the tent for warmth/ to get out of the rain etc, then having extra space will be more important. The easiest way to visualize what will fit is to measure out a 12x12 space on your lawn, or in a room, then set up your gear in that space.
Q: Can you leave it up year round ?
A: If you are using your tent for extended use situations, periods of continuous use for three weeks or greater, there are some precautions you should be aware of in order to maximize the life of your tent.
1) Canvas Rot: This occurs when the canvas at the bottom of the tent is in constant contact with moist ground. The canvas never dries out and eventually will begin to rot or decay in the areas of contact. Even if there is no precipitation, this can be caused by moisture from dew. Prevention: For extend use, make sure the tent is placed in an area that is well drained and dry. It could be placed on sand, gravel, or a slated wooden platform. Extended use on grassy areas or moist soil should be avoided.
2) Mildew: Is more prone to grow in humid climates in dark or shady areas. Prevention: Opening the tent up daily and letting it air out. When possible, place the tent in an area where it can receive a couple hours of direct sunlight a day.
3) UV damage. While your Kodiak Canvas tent is much less susceptible to UV deterioration than many synthetic fabrics, over time it will eventually degrade the canvas. Life expectancy in full sunlight should exceed one year of continuous use. Possibly much more than a year—there are many factors. Prevention: Placing your tent an area where it receives full sunlight for only a few hours a day is best, and will prolong its useful life.
Q: Can you get it with a zipper it the bottom for electric cord?
A: The doors have wonderful YKK zippers that can be used to zip up to a cord, leaving almost no gap.
Q: Do you pay now or when it’s shipped?
A: Our system charges your card immediately upon purchasing the item. That also secures your place in line as they do ship in the order received. Fortunately, once our system charges your card the information is immediately deleted for your protection and ours. If you need to cancel for any reason you can always do so as long as it has not shipped out.
Q: How many stakes are required for the tent body?
A: This tent includes all the stakes required for set-up. Additional Stakes are available for purchase from Kodiak Canvas if desired.
Q: If I order this week or next, am I guaranteed to get a tent?
A: Customers who order now (August 27) will receive theirs with the shipment coming in on September 30. You will be guaranteed to get a tent, but not until that shipment in late September. The tracking information will be emailed to you automatically just as soon as it ships out.
Feel free to contact us with any other questions.
Q: What stove is best to use in the tent ?
A: There are a lot of different stove brands out there. We recommend the Colorado cylinder brand, the spruce model.
Q: I am wanting to order a 6170 Kodiak tent. I seen the shipping date has been pushed back to Sept 20. If I did order one when would be the probable deliver date I could receive it ?
A: This tent is extremely popular and is almost impossible to get without pre-ordering. shipments sell out months in advance. if you order now yours should ship in Mid September, but I recommend ordering soon before that shipment sells out too.
Q: ?are there any more 6070 tents available
A: These must be pre-ordered to get one. These sell out before they are restocked. the only way to save your place in line is to Pre-order. Orders placed now will ship in Mid August.
Q: If I buy it without the awning option but later on decide I want the awning am I able to buy it and attach it myself?
A: Yes, you can add it on later, but it is usually cheaper to buy them together.
Q: Do you ship it overseas? I live in Korea. I am amazed with the product reviews via YouTube. I read the review and are these made in China?
A: For international orders please text 801-871-5891
Q: When will this tent again be available?
A: We believe this will be available in June.
Q: Delivery to Australia?
A: We don't ship those internationally, but eBay sometimes will forward them internationally. If the product is sold here you can check and may be in luck. Ebay name CEPauctions
Is this tent waterproof out of the box, or are other steps required to make it waterproof? Also, is this tent recommended for use during the summer time?
A: Yes, it's perfect for summer with all those 7 large screened windows. It is recommended that you season the tent, but most customers do not. According to the owner's manual: After initial set-up, it is recommended that you spray the tent with water and allow it to dry
completely. This ?"seasons" the canvas. The water causes the canvas to shrink slightly, closing the needle holes where the canvas was stitched. This process is only required once.
Q: Dimensions? Height? Weight?
A: Dimensions: (Individual shipping carton) L: 52 W: 14 H: 14 inches Cu. ft. 5.9, Weight: 99.25 lbs.
Q: What's the height of side walls?
A: The height of the sidewalls is 4 feet. Underneath the main picture there are some smaller thumbnail pictures below it and if you scroll to the right it will show you an exploded diagram with those dimensions. Feel free to contact us with any other questions.
Q: Will this be available through amazon in February?
A: This will not be offered on Amazon.
Q: Are these prices us or Canada?
If American what is the shipping costs?
A: It is in US dollars. We do ship to Canada, however, the freight can be very expensive. To determine the freight please add the item to your cart and enter your postal code. Please keep in mind that the broker bills you in addition to the freight charge around 30%.
Q: What is the weight rating of the canvas used in this tent? Can it be purchased with the 16 oz. floor like is in some of your other tents? Is there a rain fly available?
A: The floor is a rugged 13.5 ounce vinyl. No need for a rain fly as it's completely waterproof.
A: The walls are 8.5 ounce canvas. The ceiling is 10 ounce canvas.
A: If you use a stove you should use some kind of fly to protect the roof from sparks, and also to protect from tree sap or pitch.
Q: Is there any video of this tent? pictures of the inside?
A: We don’t yet, but we will soon. I’ll keep you posted.
A: Yes videos are up. Just do a simple search for Competitive Edge or Kodiak Canvas 12 x 12 tent and you will see them on YouTube.
A: No video yet. I am contemplating this tent and im waiting to see a video of this tent and awning, hopefully sometime soon
Q: where are these tents made?
A: Kodiak is based in Utah, in the US, but all Kodiak items are imported from China. The quality is amazing. Reviews will follow soon as this has just barely been released.
Q: Is this tent fully enclosed with a floor?
A: Yes, fully enclosed with a floor.
Q: Will the Stove Lodge Tent have a stove pipe port in any of the walls to avoid rain entry? The rear center wall would be ideal for even heat distribution. THANKS!!
A: There is an opening in the roof for a stove pipe. This is called a stove jack. It is made with a fiberglass/silicone covered fabric that is fireproof. It has a flap that zips down and covers the opening when not in use.
Q: How many people to set this tent up?
A: Great question. This and the other cabin tent 6133 require two people for set-up.
