Get more play area with this converter that extends out from poles or walls. The Spalding / Huffy 8839SP Converter can mount to a pole, wall or roof. This basketball accessory system allows you to more readily choose your desired location for your basketball court.

Spalding / Huffy 8839SP Basketball Accessories Converter Bracket Features and Specs:

Adopts backboards to 3.5" diameter round poles, roof, or wall.
Fits all Huffy Sports and most Spalding residential backboards (up to 54").
Distance between top and bottom U-bolt when mounting to a pole: 8 inches.
Basketball Backboard Bracket offers a 3 ft. height adjustment range in 6" increments.
Provides approximately 2 ft. of offset from pole/wall when the bracket is parallel with the ground. Offset will vary depending on height.

*Backboard not included with Huffy Converter 8839SP Ratchet Adjustable Basketball Backboard and Rim Mounting Bracket System.

Converter brackets are very useful if you do not have a space for a portable basketball hoop or an In Ground basketball system. Of the 3 options for your basketball court (portable, In Ground, or converter bracket) the converter bracket option is the quickest to set up and consumes the least amount of space. The pole must be at least 8.5 ft in height for the mounting brackets to adjust the rim to reach the 10 level for basketball backboards.

Pole Mount Application

This was the only option I found for remounting a Spaulding backboard to an existing 3.5" pole. This works great and is adjustable. Make sure you have a pole at least 106 inches tall, two friends and two tall stepladders for the final installation as the rim is integral to this frame. Directions are fairly easy to follow.

Q: does the mount come with the pole part that attaches to the roof? If not where do i find such a bracket? Our roof is 10' at the gutter line and that is the bracket that looks like it would allow a backboard and hoop to be mounted.

A: It includes everything, but the backboard and rim and does not include the actual hardware to mount it to the roof surface as there are many types of surfaces. Many people mount these with gutters just fine. For specs you may want to call the assembly help number at 800-558-5234.

Q: My pole is 9 feet high ... will this allow for a ten foot regulation height adjustment?

A: The pole must be at least 8.5 ft in height for the mounting brackets to adjust the rim to reach the 10 level for basketball backboards.

Q: Can this kit be adapted for a 4" round steel pole? I have the 52" Spalding backboard, so this should be compatible I just need to verify that the pole will work.

A: We don't have any brackets that will work with a 4 Round pole. We have brackets that will work with a 3.5 round, or a 4 Square pole.
