Basketball hoop

The service was as promised. Delivery was great. This was a gift for my grandchildren and they love it. Didn’t take much time to install with the exception of cement drying. Wonderful.

Nice product, but a bit flimsy

I recently purchased the Lifetime 71799 and installed it according to the directions. Did not use a ground sleeve, but did put into a 22'x18' square with tons of concrete. The base is very sturdy, however, the rest of the pole and backboard seem to be top heavy! There is a lot of play and bounce when a ball hits the backboard. I realize I did not buy the top-of-the-line system, but I did expect it to be sturdy. We will see how it holds up during heavy use (by my 9 year old son) and through the winter. As for the folks at Competitive Edge Products, they were great with helping me get the best deal on this goal. The item was shipped and arrived faster than expected!

PRODUCT OK INSTRUCTIONS NEED WORK

Competitive Edge was a delight to deal with, but the product arrived missing hardware and with defective poles. The instruction book does not label the main pieces- only hardware, until the step dealing with that particular piece. So if you want to take inventory before assembly, it is very difficult. This definitely requires 2 people and is not for a beginner builder.I recommend using with an in-ground sleeve for stability for a number of reasons, including stability. The product appears to be of decent quality.

A: This one should work great as you can adjust the height of the rim anywhere from 7.5 ft. to 10 ft. in 6 inch increments.

Q: We have the lifetime basketball hoop 51781. A storm broke the backboard off. Is there a replacement backboard we can buy? If not, do you sell any other basketball hoop with the same size pole, so we could swap out with having to remove the existing pole?

A: Most of the Lifetime backboards have the same set up, so they are often interchangeable. If you want to keep the pole, then I would recommend buying a Backboard and Rim Combo and a compatible bracket. The 9594 is not adjustable and 1044 is adjustable.

Q: What is the difference between lifetime 71799 and lifetime 90084? Do you recommend one system over the other?

A: Basically the only difference is the type of backboard and the colors on the backboard. Model 71799 is better, because it has a steel frame supporting the backside of the backboard, whereas, 90084 has a plastic frame (it is still good, but still is better). They both have the same pole and adjustment mechanism. The rim is also the same.

A: The 71799 has 2 differences: backboard size and backboard frame material. The 71799 backboard is 50-inches wide; the 90020 backboard is 48-inches wide. The 71799 has a 1-inch thick steel backboard frame; the 90020 has a 2-inch thick plastic backboard frame.Why do I care about the differences between the 71799 and 90020 Lifetime basketball hoops?
