I’ve had the 44-Inch Fusion Basketball System (Cleveland Cavaliers) for about a week now and I’ve got to say….my kids and I love this thing. I’ll break it down more in depth below, but this thing blows other basketball hoops we’ve gotten from other online retailers out of the water. You can see in the pictures I’ve included that it is so much more substantial in the materials used, the height, and the sturdiness of the entire thing, including the rim and backboard. I have an 8- and 10-year-old that I play with, and we can move it with easy from the 7.5 ft up to the 10 ft max with ease. My kids love how big it is, and they love the Cleveland Cavaliers logo on the backboard – they’re first comments out of the box upon seeing it were “did we get this from the NBA?!”. Shipping: Shipping was super quick, and it arrived in 2 boxes that are tied together. I was able to lift it up and carry it on my shoulder from the driveway to my backyard where I completed the assembly but note the boxes weight about 58 lbs. altogether. They arrived in great shape and only having 2 boxes to deal with was great. Assembly: I timed myself and was about to get this together in about 50 minutes. It comes with an instruction manual and 3 bags of nuts and bolts. Pay close attention to the bags are they are all labeled, and the instructions will mention the specific bag where the parts are so its pretty easy to find them as you go. Most all of this can be completed with one person, but it probably would’ve gone a little faster with 2 people. Take your time and go step by step and it’ll go by quickly. In Use: Seriously, this thing is amazing. The backboard is huge and so responsive. The rebounds on it are great and much better than I could’ve expected. The hoop is super sturdy and feels massive compared to what we’ve had in the past. Once we started playing with it, I couldn’t believe how much more fun we had because of the backboard and hoop being more responsive. As I stated before, I will play with one of my kids and then all I have to do is unscrew a hand bolt, raise or lower the telescoping pole, and tighten it back down which will take all of 30 seconds to adjust and be back in the game. The whole thing is built to last – the powder-coat on the pole is consistent and looks great, the rim is a perfect bright red, the net is perfect, and the logo and backboard are the cherry on top. Last thing to note: The base has wheels on it so it’s easy enough to move around depending on your needs. Once we found the spot it will be staying in, I bought a few bags of sand and used a funnel to fill up the base and this thing is super solid, and we don’t have to worry about it tipping or falling. I’ve used water before but if you live somewhere where it gets cold enough to freeze, I wouldn’t recommend it so it doesn’t crack. This is a great starter basketball hoop. We currently have an in ground hoop that my teenagers play on, but we have a 5 year old that can't keep up with the big boys. He's going to love this Basketball Hoop. It's perfect size for him now and gives him plenty of growing room as he gets older and taller. We have it on the lowest setting as a beginner, but love how easy it is to move it up as his skills increase. Now he can feel included in the evenings shooting hoops after dinner. Set up. We started out with myself and my 16 year old son. It looked like it was going to take us a couple of hours at the rate we were going. I do love how the instructions give you a qr code for each part of the set up if you get stuck and don't understand the instructions. the qr code links to a Youtube video showing you how to do it. That was very helpful for a novice like me. About 1/2 hour into the process my husband and another teenage son came home and started helping and we had the whole thing set up within an hour. It was very helpful to have one person giving instructions and 2 people to carry it out. I became the supervisor! Love that the base is just filled with water. The basketball hoop is sturdy. Full disclosure, I was sent this hoop and asked to write an honest review. I think this is a great basketball hoop for kids. My kids are not avid ball players but they have enjoyed playing basketball with this hoop since we got it assembled. Assembly was fairly straightforward. Watching the videos helped a lot with assembly. My 13 year old daughter was able to do a lot of the assembly by herself with supervision. There were a couple times that holes did not line up perfectly and it took a little more work to get the screws in place. Overall I would say assembly was pretty simple and took about 2-2.5 hours. The hoop is pretty stable once the base is filled. We filled ours with water because that is what we had on hand, but will probably change it out to sand later because we live where the temperatures get cold and the kids want to be able to use the hoop when weather allows. Adjusting the height of the hoop was fairly easy. I wouldn't say it was the easiest hoop to adjust the height on but it wasn't too difficult. When filled with water it was a little more difficult to move the hoop around, younger kids would definitely need an adult's help to move the hoop. While playing a game I felt the rebound of the hoop was as expected. When bouncing off the backboard the ball came back in the direction you would expect when the shot was missed. When aiming your shots off the backboard you seemed pretty accurate. The rim seems to be very sturdy. My 13 year old tried to dunk the ball and the rim held up as expected, didn't notice any bend. Overall I feel that this is a great basketball hoop for beginner and even intermediate players. It definitely isn't a top of the line hoop but it is a great starter hoop and is a great value for the price. The parts seem sturdy and made of good quality materials. I received the Lifetime 44-Inch Shatterproof Fusion Portable Basketball System as an exchange for a review, and overall, I have been very impressed. The setup was easier than I expected - the instructions were clear, and once the base was filled, it felt solid and secure. The hoop itself is sturdy and doesn't wobble, even when my older kids (ages 12 and 10) shoot harder shots. The backboard has a nice rebound for a polycarbonate style - not the same as glass, but perfect for home use. The rim is strong and dependable. The adjustable height has been a significant plus, as we can lower it for my younger kids (ages 8 and 6) and raise it for the older kids. It has held up really well, and I can tell it will last a long time. Overall, this hoop is an excellent choice for families. It's sturdy, easy to adjust, and fun for all ages to use.
