Lifetime Extreme Weather Kit

Make your Lifetime shed even tougher with this extreme weather kit accessory. The 60011 is designed to help reinforce the roof trusses, walls, doors, and floor. Steel channels increase the ability of the shed to withstand heavier snow fall and higher winds. In fact, adding this kit to your 8-foot wide Lifetime shed will help your building actually exceed wind pressure requirements for Dade County, Florida. This Lifetime shed weather kit has sufficient components to reinforce 3 trusses, which is enough to support the trusses of the 6405 Lifetime storage shed. So, if you live in an area where you get frequent heavy snow loads or high winds or both, consider getting this extreme weather kit for your 8-foot wide shed.

Important Notes

Note that this kit provides sufficient reinforcement parts for an 8x10 shed. In other words, you will have more than enough parts for 8-foot wide storage shed from Lifetime for any length shorter than 10 feet, and not enough parts for any length longer than 10 feet. You can order additional snow load kits to reinforce the roof trusses here; all other parts needed for sheds longer than 10 feet will need to be purchased directly through Lifetime Products - 1-800-225-3865.

This kit is not compatible with Lifetime garden sheds (sheds with the entry on the length side of the shed instead of the 8-foot sides), on 7-foot wide sheds, storage buildings (sheds with an 11-foot width), or models 60086 and 60085. This model is also not compatible with most Rough Cut model sheds. (The 60356 is compatible with the 60011 Extreme Weather Kit)

Important purchasing points for this Lifetime shed weather kit

Customers living in extreme weather conditions will want to consider this weather kit.
Customers living under normal to moderate weather conditions will most likely not need this kit. Consult a contractor in your area for specific recommendations.
Includes roof reinforcements for up to 3 trusses, enough for the 6405 Lifetime shed.
If your Lifetime shed is longer than the 6405, which is 8 x 10 feet, you will need additional snow load kits for the roof trusses. Additional wall supports are not available for sale for longer shed lengths.
This kit is only compatible with Lifetime branded storage sheds.
This weather kit cannot be used with Lifetime garden sheds; these sheds have the entry on the length side of the shed instead of the 8-foot side of the shed.
Total snow load weight on the roof of the shed after adding this kit is 2400 lbs. of evenly distributed weight for an 8 x 10 foot shed.
This weather kit is not compatible with 11-foot wide Lifetime storage buildings.

Nice Kit

A little expensive and time consuming to install but worth the piece of mind for my investment. I was surprised though that there were 3 cross braces for the right door and none for the left

Good Result, But Expensive And Time-Consuming

I live in New England and bought this kit to go with my new Lifetime shed after reading reviews of the roof collapsing in a heavy snowfall. Even if all those reviews were in Canada, I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. This kit is a hefty up charge over the basic cost of the shed-seems very high. It does do a great job of stiffening and strengthening the shed, though. The difference is very clear. Installation is somewhat time-consuming, with lots and lots of self-tapping screws. Lifetime could certainly make this process easier by selling the kit as an option with the shed, and giving you instructions for assembling both at once. As it stands, you need to undo some of the work you've done assembling the shed to assemble this kit. Lifetime could also do a better job of pre drilling holes to make the process easier. Also, be aware that some options, such as the corner tool corrals, won't work with this kit installed. Overall, it took me a full day to install this kit, but am glad it's there. Suggestion for lifetime - offer a package of the shed + kit, with combined instructions and an attractive price, for those who live in more difficult climates

Extreme Weather Kit

I have a Lifetime 8 x 15 shed. It is well built and strong. I wanted to make it as strong as possible so I ordered the Extreme Weather Kit and additional snow load kits. They are very well engineered, extremely stout and add greatly to the rigidity and strength of the shed. The metal seemed tempered it was so hard to drill. I couldn't be happier. PS The door gets reinforced and actually provides good security

Delivery Details: This product ships directly from Lifetime Products in Clearfield, UT. Delivery of this product is via a curbside delivery through an LTL carrier (too big for UPS and FedEx). The customer may be required to be present to sign for the order. The freight carrier is instructed to contact you prior to delivery to set up a delivery appointment. The carrier will unload the product by means of a lift gate. In some cases items may be too large to fit on the lift gate and may require assistance from the customer helping unload box-by-box (takes only a few minutes).

However, sometimes the packaging may be slightly damaged, but you may not be sure whether something inside is damaged. Q: Will it fit any 8x15 Shed? If not why?

A: The kit includes reinforcements for up to 3 roof trusses—that covers an 8×10 shed—so for your 8×15, you'll need one full Extreme Weather Kit + at least one additional Snow Load Kit to reinforce the extra trusses. You'll also need to ensure that your 8x10 has the door on the 8' side only and not the 15' side (otherwise known as a 15x8 shed). Please see the chart above in the description for more details.

A: The 60011 extreme weather kit doesn't work with the lifetime shed 60370 because it is a rough cut style with vertical siding and any lifetime shed with vertical siding has a different interior instruction design that is not compatible with the 60011 weather kit.

A: Yes, it can be installed on a compatible shed after the original assembly is done. But, it is easier to install it at the time of the original assembly.

Q: My 60011 8x10 shed is located on a concrete pad. It's about as level as practical. When it rains, water gets under the shed floor and seeps into the shed between the floor board joints. I have sealed the joints between the vertical wall sections and along the entire perimeter of the shed at the concrete pad. Water still gets under the floor. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to stop this from happening?
