Sometimes you just have too many players to play a one-on-one table tennis tournament. In this case, a turn-based approach might be better. In a turn-based game, players line up in a circle around the table. Two paddles are needed, one on each side. Players take turns one at a time picking up the paddle on either side of the table to return the ball. As soon as the player returns the ball the player quickly returns the paddle to the table top and steps out of the way in the direction of the circle so the player behind them can pick up the paddle to return the next ball that gets hit back. Then simply follow regular table tennis rules to eliminate players one at a time. Elimination is typically for getting scored on or failing to return the ball over the net according to the rules. Once the game has been reduced to two players, a variety of rules can be followed to help complete the game. An option to keep the game somewhat tough is to require a drop and spin before each return. This option means that as soon as the player returns the ball with the paddle, he or she drops the paddle on the table, spins around in a circle, and then picks up the paddle again. That way, the game remains difficult and entertaining. Continue play until you have a champion. Enjoy your table tennis table.
