Understanding Lifetime Shed Colors

We get so many customers asking us to clarify the color of the storage shed they are purchasing only to leave them more confused.  There have been some colors like "Desert Tan" - is that beige?  Is there a hint of yellow in it or almond?  What about the roof and doors.  To help you understand the colors in the shed you are considering, please take a look at the chart.  It should help.  Note: your screen resolution and color settings could still slightly skew it so please take a look at all the stock photos and especially customer photos in the review so you can get a better idea of what your shed will look like in person.

I've made this chart above to help identify which color options are out there for different sheds. Not every color option is available for every shed. I want to help clarify the naming conventions and some tips and tricks for choosing the right color for you. Lifetime has recently decided to switch from their original naming conventions including; Gray Matters, Storm Dust, Carbonized Gray, Roof Brown, and Desert Sand.

The new assigned names have made it a bit easier to understand.
-Light Gray (Gray Matters)
-Gray (Storm Dust)
-Dark Gray (Carbonized Gray)
-Brown (Roof Brown)
-Tan (Desert Sand)

Onto the first tip on choosing the right color for you. Choosing a color that complements your house well can be important. Some customers prefer their shed to match directly with their home but a complementary color can create a nice visual balance. For example, if you have a beige or grey house choosing a contrasting color like Brown might make your property's color palette more appealing. Matching accent colors with your houses, trim, shutters, or roof could also tie your property together nicely.

Consider the surrounding environment and decide whether you'd like a natural blend or something that stands out more. If you live in a desert environment you might pick a shed that has a Dark Gray option if you'd like it to stand out. Regarding climate and environment, it is also important to factor in the amount of sunlight that the shed will directly receive. In a hotter climate, lighter colors will reflect sunlight and lead to better long-term preservation. For any location, factoring in these ideas will help your thought process better as you pick the right shed for you. On that note, it is beneficial to understand that these sheds last a long time. Making your decision based only on color is not recommended but having a timeless color for circumstances such as moving and regular wear and tear is recommended. The dye in the plastic on a Lifetime shed goes all the way through the siding and a minor scuff won't be lighter/darker than the shed's original color.

Lifetime's siding is made of HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene.) The best thing about the Lifetime sheds is that it requires very little maintenance if any. The plastic has UV ray protection and the polyethylene makes it more soft than vinyl and other plastics. This makes it more durable, more difficult to dent, and chip.  Unlike vinyl, it won't crack into pieces if struck by, say, a rock from a mower. The special polyethylene is also easy to clean and holds its color for years with a 10-year warranty.
