Virginia 16' 2 Story Large garage or storage building
The Virginia garage kit offers a great amount of space both upstairs and downstairs. Designed as a single-car garage the Virginia is also a great choice for use as a workshop or if you need a large amount of storage. The interior can be insulated and finished to suit your specific needs. With 7ft. 1in. of headroom at center of the 2nd floor loft you’ll have plenty of room for more work area or perhaps an office space.
Windows not included. This allows you to choose the best type and style suitable for your needs. Stairs are ‘L’ shaped and can be placed in either of the back wall corners opposite the doors. Doors include transom windows and measure 8ft. wide x 7ft. high.
If desired windows and walk-in door can be additionally purchased can be installed during construction. Location is determined by homeowner. Additional framing material may need to be purchased for headers and rough-ins.
Wall construction is 2x4s spaced 16in. o.c. and include pressure treated bottom plates. Trusses are 2×6 spaced 24in. o.c. Building can be constructed on a foundation that meets your requirements. This can be a cement slab, over basement, wood floor, post and beam, etc. Homeowner purchases material to build floor and foundation separately. Check with your local building code requirements to determine what is permissible.This two-story model can be used for a single-car garage, a large storage building, or perhaps a workshop. If you're considering a workshop or storage building other styles of doors can be installed. The choice is yours.
The 16ft. wide Virginia provides two floors of unobstructed space without interior walls or supports required. High-side walls on the lower level can be insulated if desired. The loft area offers 7ft. 1in. of headroom at the center with plenty of room for storage right to the outside walls. Available in 20ft., 24ft., 28ft., and 32ft.. lengths the Virginia offers up to 1,152 sq. ft. of floor space. Choose the size that is appropriate for your particular needs.
One 28in. x 38in. and one 36in. x 36in. The included 'L' shaped stair kit can be installed in either of the back corners opposite the carriage doors.
Virginia can be built on various foundation types. Cement slab, basement, post, and beam wood floors are typical foundation choices. The type you build will be dictated by your requirements and may vary based on local building codes.

Siding
The 3/8" siding is made from wood strands, pressed into a resin-saturated substrate, superior to plywood. A cedar texture is embossed into the substrate, free from knot holes and patches. It comes primed and ready for the paint color of your choice. Latex acrylic paint is recommended. It has been treated with Composibor preventing fungal decay and insect damage. The siding is backed with a 50-year limited warranty.
Hardware
The Best Barn wood shed kit components fit easily into place with no special tools or skills required. All required hardware is included. Roof edge and shingles are provided by the owner as most customer’s want to purchase that locally to match their home.
Stairs
Our custom staircase can be installed along in either corner of the back wall opposite the doors. The upper landing is centered to the roof peak so as to provide maximum headroom when ascending the stairs.
Dimensions
Walls are shipped K.D. (knocked down) field assembly required. The wall studs are pre-cut and spaced 16? on the center. Exterior siding is LP (Louisiana Pacific) primed siding.
2×6 roof trusses are shipped pre-cut for precise field assembly. Engineered to withstand high wind loads of 140 mph max and heavy snow loads of 30 lbs. psf. Trusses provide a clear span with a generous 7' headroom in the center.
