Information You Need to Have
For Lifetime playgrounds, the listing description will typically display two measurements: the footprint and the safety dimensions. The footprint dimensions show the approximate space the playground takes up in your yard. The safety dimensions add about six feet of extra space in every direction from the different parts of the playset.
Product Dimensions Diagram
Below is an example of a dimensions diagram for a Lifetime playground. You'll notice there are two measurements that show both the footprint and the safety dimensions Lifetime shows for this model of playground.

What does that mean for you?
First, if you don’t have enough space for the footprint, you definitely won’t have enough room to set up the playset and allow kids to move around safely. Second, you’ll need to consider what’s around the area where you plan to place the playset and decide if you’re okay with not meeting the safety dimensions. For example, if a Lifetime playground had safety dimensions of 30 feet x 30 feet, but you only had 30 feet x 28 feet available, you may or may not have the space you need. If the 28-foot side borders a wide-open field and your main concern is keeping kids out of that field, you might be fine with the smaller dimension. However, if the 28-foot side is limited because it’s against a building, that could pose a safety hazard.
The good news with Lifetime playgrounds is that there are many options to choose from that fit all kinds of spaces. Look for the one that best fits your area.
