Made with high performance, Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas. The tight weave and silicone finish make this canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess that are common with synthetic tents. The sewn-in floor is a tough 13.5 oz vinyl with welded seams, that keeps water out. The tall ceiling (7.5 ft. at peak) and vertical wall design (4 ft. at sides) provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. The large front door means no crouching when you come and go. Six large windows provide openness, and excellent airflow. Windows can be opened and closed from inside the tent, and feature no-see-um, screen mesh that keeps the smallest bugs out. A covered storm window and vents can be opened to circulate outside air, even when rainy. The door and windows feature top-rated YKK zippers. This design, boasting a frame with 1-inch, galvanized, steel tubing, will hold up to strong winds and even snow loads. A stove jack allows for use of a wood burning stove, so you can stay warm and cozy. The 8x8 ft. enclosed awning accessory (sold separately) increases the space by 44%, and provides a nice area to get out of the weather or store extra gear. Love my new tent!

I have used a sibley style canvas tent from another brand for 7 years. I upgraded to the 12x12 and love it! It has more room and is made of superior material. By taking good care of it, I know this will be the last tent I need to purchase for years. Get a Kodiak from Outdoor Edge. You won’t regret it!

This tent is exactly what I wanted

This tent is exactly what I wanted, well constructed, easy to set up, lots of room, and a stove jack. The add on room without a floor is perfect for our camp kitchen, and a place to leave dirty boots. My only concern is finding a level flat spot, large enough at some of the places I intend to use it, but I knew that when I purchased it. The ground tarp is also heavy duty, and perfectly sized for the tent, without a doubt will protect the tent floor. The ground tarp also gives you a clean surface for packing up. The canvas tent carpet is comfy and gives a warmer feeling to the cold plastic floor. I highly recommend these products, and the business was excellent to work with. I never give product reviews but feel ablogeted after the great customer service, timely delivery, and awesome tent. I truly am a Happy Camper!

Great tent

Awesome tent. First trip using it thunderstorms all night and not a single drop of water inside the tent or add on accessory. Took about 45 minutes to build by myself. tent stakes started coming out of the ground during storm so recommend better ones. There is no access port for electric cords or propane heat. the cover for the stove pipe insects can get in as its not sealed. Hopefully Kodiak puts velcro or something at the bottom to fully seal it when not in use. lastly the pole bag and tent are heavy but good quality. Have to leave the tent up after storm to fully dry. The white roof collects dirt, sap, and other items and is extremely hard to clean.

We love this new tent. It is very strong. Took about 30 min to set up the first time and another 25 for the awning. We can’t wait to get it out again.

Perfection

Kodiak Canvas has these tents figured out! For such a large tent, it went together so easily without another person to help. The fabrics are all thick and heavy duty, the poles are steel, the stakes are stout, I was very impressed. I did not realize it had organizer pouches installed around the inside and there are some loops along the center of the ceiling where you could run lines to dry out gear. A big Labrador Retriever jumped up and pawed the window mesh trying to get in and there was no damage done. You can see in the photos that we had a ton a space left even with all of the large items we brought in. Solid, simple and spacious, I couldn't be more pleased!

Q: what is weight bearing on top

A: There is no official way capacity for that. Many customers had several hundred pounds of weight from heavy snow and it is held up just fine. It is very important however to make sure that you also keep an eye on the snow accumulation. There are a lot of good YouTube videos you can see for some tips and tricks, but basically you can push the snow off from the inside relatively easily. Running a stove in it is also helpful, because most of the snow won't even accumulate it will simply melt and then drip off the edges.

A: Great question. Hot tent refers to the ability to add a wood burning stove. It means that it has a stove jack (a port for the stove pipe to exit the top of the tent.)

Q: Happy New Year. Would like to puchase 12x12 and awning. Have a winter camping trip on 01/10. Would this arrive in Pleasanton, CA before 01/10? Also, I have a portable stove with a small diameter pipe. Do you offer smaller stove jacks for the tent?

A: It is typically 2 Business days in transit to California, but expedited shipping is available if needed. These only have the 1 size of stove Jack, but it will fit all of the Colorado Stoves We Carry.

Q: The add on tents for the 12x12 and larger have models come with a floor or one that can be added. With a hot stove added can you set up an air mattress in the 12x12 model

A: The add on rooms do not include a floor, though you are welcome to use a tarp or floor liner inside. The size is 8'x8', so most customers will use a 9x8 tarp or a 10x10 tarp if you want it to overlap more. The stove takes up a lot of room when used, it drops the person capacity from 8 to 4 since you need a safe distance from the stove. I would recommend using a pad or a cot instead of an air mattress if using the stove.

Q: Have built a 12x16 platform to place a tent on. Do you think the 12x12 Kodiak would work well on it, or should I add some width to it? Thanks Jerry

A: I think you would need 4' around each side due to the guy ropes. They really need I'd estimate about 4' around the perimeter - that's 8' to the total width and 8' to the total depth. That means a 20'x20' would be needed.

A: Thanks for the response but could have worded my question better. The 12x16 platform I built is only 18 inches off the ground so will still be able to use the ground for guy ropes. Was questioning the exact true floor width of the tent?? If it is a true 12 feet, I will definitely have to add some width (maybe a foot) to secure the side poles. Want to have it ready as it will be the first placement of the tent. Thanks Jerry

Q: I am considering using your 12 X 12 for my grandchildren in a camp like setting. I would install the tent on a wooden platform and would leave it up year round. Is your tent suitable for this application?

A: Extended use is not the design of the tent and is not covered under the lifetime warranty. If you are using your tent for extended use situations, periods of continuous use for three weeks or greater, there are some precautions you should be aware of in order to maximize the life of your tent. Canvas Rot: This occurs when the canvas at the bottom of the tent is in constant contact with moist ground. The canvas never dries out and eventually will begin to rot or decay in the areas of contact. Even if there is no precipitation, this can be caused by moisture from dew. Prevention: For extend use, make sure the tent is placed in an area that is well drained and dry. It could be placed on sand, gravel, or a slated wooden platform. Extended use on grassy areas or moist soil should be avoided. Mildew: Is more prone to grow in humid climates in dark or shady areas. Prevention: Opening the tent up daily and letting it air out. When possible, place the tent in an area where it can receive a couple hours of direct sunlight a day. UV Damage. While your Kodiak Canvas tent is much less susceptible to UV deterioration than many synthetic fabrics, over time it will eventually degrade the canvas. Life expectancy in full sunlight should exceed one year of continuous use. Possibly much more than a year—there are many factors. Prevention: Placing your tent an area where it receives full sunlight for only a few hours a day is best, and will prolong its useful life.

A: The tent has a sewn-in non-removable floor. The awning portion has an open floor if you decide to add the add-on room. Kodiak doesn't currently make a 12x12 Floor Liner, but we do have a very comparable 12x12 White Duck Canvas Tarp. You can Use Coupon Code cep20d for a discount

A: I bought a Texsport Zipper Canvas Duffle Duffel Roll Travel Sports Equipment Bag Giant which measures 50 inches by 30 inches. This bag is no joke, and the tent fits perfectly with tons of room to spare. The bag is made out of canvas with a large zipper. Downside you must buy the shoulder strap separately. I got a nylon tent I'm fixing to buy a second bag for.

A: The official approved stove is the Colorado Cylinder Stove as it's been tested in the tent to be compatible and big enough to heat the 12x12. A close substitute (that is not officially approved) is the Camp Chef Alpine stove.

A: The only stove we've tested in that is the Colorado Spruce stove, but the Alpine is very similar in style and size and I have heard from customers who use it and are happy with it. A: The instruction manual doesn't show or tell you how to fold it. At least mine doesn't. But how I do it is, I fold each side to the middle and then fold it a third time. Then I simply roll it up. Constantly pushing the air out. It's still a little tough to get it in the bag but it's the best way I have found to do it.

A: A Good Spark Resistor inside your pipe with a good flue cap should eliminate any sparks, and having proper pipe height clearance from the roof is also essential.

A: I thought the same thing. Unfortunately they dont. I have bought a 16x20 tarp to put over it. Just a little bigger than needed but does in shedding away water from the tent, over hangs by 2 feet on either side and both ends . I cut an opening for the stove jack.

Q: Hi there, I see that there is pipe in the center of the tent.. It isn't shown in the 3d picture, but very clear to see in the video. Is this pipe just for set up purposes or is it there to stabilize the center of the tent? This is, unfortunately, going to be my deciding factor on whether to buy it or not.

A: Yes, it can be removed. It is basically just there to provide extra support if you are expecting snow or wind. It telescopes so can be stored away inside the tent somewhere if not needed.

Q: Once receiving the tent we are only given 24 hours to check it out and make sure there is no damage to the products sent during shipping because that's what the carrier requires, The problem here is if i receive it during the week and with my work schedule i would not be able to meet that dead line. I would not be able to set it up until the weekend. Is there any exceptions to that rule. I just don't want have a damaged product and not be able to send back without massive shipping costs.

Q: I saw a comment of putting a Kodiak tent on a slatted wooden platform. Does a slatted wooden platform need to have gaps between slats or can the slats be fitted against one another?

A: It cannot be erected without the stakes and guy ropes so as long as you have those in place whether you use washers and lag bolts securing it to the wooden platform you should be fine. I would not recommend having gaps in the studs as it makes the floor vulnerable to damage from the feet of the cot, stove, etc. You'll need to take the necessary precautions if you are using a stove such a stove mat, etc.

A: Store it dry and it requires very little maintenance. Over the years the sun can undo the waterproofing aspect, but people can usually go ten years without retreating it with a waterproofing spray. It can get dirty, but aside from sweeping it off with a broom you rarely have to do anything special.

Q: Ok just read some questions and answer. One question stood out that im thinking may be a reason not to buy this tent. In the question it was mentioned that water wicked up thru the floor. Why in the world would you have a floor that water can wick up thru.? This may be a deciding factor for me. I have a tent from one of your competitors now with an issue of water flooding into the tent thru the stove jack. Seems i may not be bettering my self to buy this one. A: I've never heard of water wicking up through the floor. It's not even possible as the floor is vinyl. There's got to be a misunderstanding or something...unless they punctured their floor, but the vinyl is a bit pliable and forgiving and difficult to puncture. It's far superior to most tent floors which are just a crunchy-sounding tarp of sorts.

A: There isn't an easy way to horse pack this particular tent model. Most customers go with the two person tent model 6086 which packs impressively small. Small for a canvas tent at least.

Q: Just got back from a 9 day camping trip on the Olympic Peninsula in the rain forest. The tent held up fine with only a little water wicking through the floor. It rained hard. My question is what is the best way to dry the tent when you get home.? I tried to drape it over my boat in the carport, but it did not seem to be drying. I ended up setting it up in the back yard, lighting a fire daily until we get a sunny day. It is very wet where I live, so any advice on drying would be helpful.

A: Figured it out. After drying the tent using the stove, I took it down and brought it in the house and dried it out using a dehumidifier. After a couple days the tent was ready for storage.

A: Can do what we did to our son's Jeep after realizing door gaskets needed replacing and floors were extremely wet. We parked it in our carport and plugged in our large dehumidifier unit overnight. Worked like a charm...

Q: Do you think 4 cots would fit in the 12x12 kodiak cabin tent with the stove?

A: They will fit yes, but you will need to take into consideration how much gear and space you want to fit in as well. If you are going to be outside the tent most of the day then space isn't as big of an issue, but if you are spending a lot of your time in the tent for warmth/ to get out of the rain etc, then having extra space will be more important. The easiest way to visualize what will fit is to measure out a 12x12 space on your lawn, or in a room, then set up your gear in that space.

Q: Can you leave it up year round ?

A: If you are using your tent for extended use situations, periods of continuous use for three weeks or greater, there are some precautions you should be aware of in order to maximize the life of your tent.

1) Canvas Rot: This occurs when the canvas at the bottom of the tent is in constant contact with moist ground. The canvas never dries out and eventually will begin to rot or decay in the areas of contact. Even if there is no precipitation, this can be caused by moisture from dew. Prevention: For extend use, make sure the tent is placed in an area that is well drained and dry. It could be placed on sand, gravel, or a slated wooden platform. Extended use on grassy areas or moist soil should be avoided.

2) Mildew: Is more prone to grow in humid climates in dark or shady areas. Prevention: Opening the tent up daily and letting it air out. When possible, place the tent in an area where it can receive a couple hours of direct sunlight a day.

3) UV damage. While your Kodiak Canvas tent is much less susceptible to UV deterioration than many synthetic fabrics, over time it will eventually degrade the canvas. Life expectancy in full sunlight should exceed one year of continuous use. Possibly much more than a year—there are many factors. Prevention: Placing your tent an area where it receives full sunlight for only a few hours a day is best, and will prolong its useful life.

A: This tent is extremely popular and is almost impossible to get without pre-ordering. shipments sell out months in advance. if you order now yours should ship in Mid September, but I recommend ordering soon before that shipment sells out too.

Q: Hello, Is this tent waterproof out of the box, or are other steps required to make it waterproof? Also, is this tent recommended for use during the summer time?

A: Yes, it's perfect for summer with all those 7 large screened windows. It is recommended that you season the tent, but most customers do not. According to the owner's manual: After initial set-up, it is recommended that you spray the tent with water and allow it to dry
completely. This ?"seasons" the canvas. The water causes the canvas to shrink slightly, closing the needle holes where the canvas was stitched. This process is only required once.
