This is just a backboard and rim combo. Mounting brackets are sold separately.

The Lifetime basketball backboard model 90086, featuring a 50-inch polycarbonate backboard, is an ideal replacement or starter backboard for your home basketball court. The Slam-It rim offers a rigid design that can withstand aggressive play, and the system includes an all-weather white net. Mounting brackets for walls, poles, or rooftops are sold separately.

Do you have brackets?

If you don't have brackets and you are mounting it to a wall, roof, or 3.5" existing round pole, then check out these brackets. One is adjustable and one is fixed height. Model 9594 is fixed. Model 1044 is adjustable. Either bracket works with this 90086 backboard.

Very good for the price

My neighbor has one of these. It seems pretty good. He has had it for at least five years and Im impressed with its wear. It still looks brand new. Anyway, for the price this is fantastic. I might consider something that is glass if it is in your budget.

different from the original backboard

Although the sales rep told me that the unit was a direct replacement, the original backboard has a metal frame thus feels sturdier than the 100%-polycarbonate replacement backboard. It is also shorter in height and thus smaller than the original backboard. Still decided to keep it because I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it.
Seller Response: Thank you for your review. This does have free returns if you're interested. Also, I don't show a record of the sales rep attached to your order. This definitely has a plastic frame. Something like model 79910 is a 50" with a metal frame.

Q: Which type of basketball backboard is best for outdoor use? Steel, fiberglass, tempered glass or acrylic? We are going to be putting in a new outdoor basketball court and am wanting something that will not be affected by cold temperatures.

A: Polycarbonate is stronger than any glass or acrylic so in that sense it will last longer, but isn't necessarily better. Tempered glass (like a windshield) holds up great outside and is considered to be the best for playing basketball.

A: No, this is definitely not compatible with any Huffy or Spalding that word. Spalding and Huffy brand backboards can only be replaced by Spalding and Huffy brand backboards.

Q: We have a basketball pole cemented in the ground can you tell me if this back board will attach to that pole and or show me images of the back of the back door so I can see the attachment piece?

A: You would need brackets as well (either model 1044 or 9594). Model 1044 mounts the backboard to the 3 1/2 inch round diameter pole and is adjustable. Model 9594 is not adjustable, but it also mounts the backboard to an existing 3 1/2 inch round diameter pole.
