Why a Lifetime Garden Shed?

Garden Sheds have a different layout than the typical Lifetime storage shed. Garden sheds have the entrance on the length side, which is the extendable side, instead of on the width side. This allows you to access the shed from the center instead of the end of the shed. This layout makes parts of the shed more accessible depending on how you want to store your products. Typical uses for this shed would be storing gardening supplies and boxes because all of those things can be stored up against the walls on all sides of the shed. If you need to store a motorized device, such as an ATV, you would do better to stick with a regular Lifetime shed. This particular shed has all the steel reinforcements within the walls. The roof trusses are all steel as well making this a great shed in areas with heavy snowfall.

Preparation

Check your local building codes and city ordinances before ordering. Some cities might require a building permit. Lifetime garden sheds will require some sort of support structure under the shed. A wood framework or a cement slab is typically used.

takes 2 people steady work to put together, leveling ground and base is critical, but overall good product and more economical than the wood sheds we looked at. It would be nice if more lower gable options of sheds were available

It's a good product and a good price. Everything went well until the roof cap. Some irregularities in the plastic castings and the top plated varied as much as an 3/8 of an inch. Doesn't sound like much until you have to fit it all together at the end. Made due and had to add some roofing screw but not the end of the world. Still a good product over some of the ones I have had over the years.

Very satisfied

Delivered on time and with lots of notice from freight company. Arrived on a Wednesday afternoon, unpacked the components, laid the floor and set the walls. Thursday, finished walls, assembled trusses and began roof. Finished Friday morning. Great directions, video on website very helpful, all components and hardware were clearly labeled and high quality. Only needed assistance on three occasions when attaching roof panels on front peak. Used power driver with lowest torque setting and light pressure, no issues with stripping out screws. Pros: Excellent materials, well engineered, parts fit snugly with only minor effort to align, professional quality hardware, shelves are very handy and easily installed. Cons: Nothing major. Suggest using high speed metal drill bit to drill a pilot hole in the door hinge tubes when inserting the set screws. Also, instead of wood shims to level the shed, I used composite material to avoid any insect problems. Overall rating is excellent. Lots of positive feedback from neighbors on appearance and functionality

1.5 days to build, plus foundation

Bought this shed as it was a nice size and looked more like a cottage than a shed. Prior to the shed arriving I read the instructions on building the foundation. Could not find a store that had Pressure treated wood 2x4s that were rated for ground contact. Ended up doing the outer frame plus two internal joists in 4X4 wood that was ground contact rated. Not wanting to do this again in a few years, I also bought the best sealer I could find and sealed all the wood including both sides of the 3/4 inch plywood. Foundation came out pretty good. Though I stuck tightly to the dimensions in the manual when the shed went on it was a little wider than the 118. 25 inch width. Not a big deal but Im glad that the plywood overlapped on the side and back. After placing the floor I then marked and cut the plywood to fit. Follow the instructions, in order, and all will be well. The only part I had trouble with was putting the self tapping screws in the pole that is at the door hinge. I could not get through that pole so gave up. Not sure how critical this is, but the doors open and close find. Lastly, dont even think of using a electric screw driver. Some of the screws you can tighten well and others you strip quickly. I did all mine by hand and only stripped a couple. PS. Your wood foundation is going to cost you a couple hundred bucks above the price of the shed to do. Enjoy! (Updated on 2/3/2015. )

Great product ... recommend LEVEL concrete floor ... instructions are visual, so pay close attention ... u will need help with walls n roof. live in a community with a HOA ... they love it ... no maintenance ... do not forget 2 peel plastic protective coating off all windows on both sides ... for $1189 delivered it was a tough choice at 1st ... glad I chose this 1 instead of a wood 1 ... . 7 hours plus 1.5 hours prep ... . DO not over tighten ... most areas u can go back n snug m up ... it all falls together at end. follow directions exactly ... do not forget support bars in ceiling they r 1/4 in. wide by approx. 20 in. long.

Fantastic product

I love this shed. The skylights offer great light, the vents seem to work on a warm day, and the looks far exceed the appearance of any other shed I considered buying.The only drawback - if you are in a higher crime area, the windows allow others to see the contents of your shed, and the doors feel as if they could be pried open (via hinges) in a minute or so. Otherwise, it is lockable and strong.

Q: Is desert sand and brown doors are the only colors available? in pix dessert sand ranges from a light yellow to beige so its very hard to tell if it will go with my white surroundings.

A: The 60005 is only available in desert tan with brown doors and a brown roof. The official colors of this shed are desert tan (like Almond) walls with a brown roof and brown doors (the brown is more like Putty - a brownish gray).

A: The official colors of this shed are desert tan (like Almond) walls with a brown roof and brown doors (the brown is more like Putty - a brownish gray). The roughcut sheds are brown, although they do look like perhaps a brownish grey.

Q: I have read enough about your sheds to know that they are the best! I keep seeing the color desert sand. Is that tan or is it closer to gray? I would prefer a brown shed, but I know there are none. I’ve seen a few that say brown and tan. Usually those have a brown roof and door and 10 walls. Do you have any like that?

A: There are brown lifetime sheds, but this desert tan is more of a beige, but not a yellow-beige, more toward almond-beige.

Q: Can this be bolted down onto a concrete slab?

A: Anchoring a Lifetime Shed is the last step in the instruction manual. Around the perimeter of the floor are places where you can optionally place anchors for a concrete slab or wooden base. For a concrete platform, we recommend using a hammer drill, 5/16" (8 mm) masonry bit, for concrete screws measuring 3/8" x 2" (10 mm x 5 cm) and Fender washers to go with those screws measuring 3/8" x 1" (10 mm x 2,5 cm) Fender Washers. Do not exceed a 3/8” diameter screw. Refer to your local hardware store for this hardware. For a wood-framed platform, we recommend using a drill, 5/16" (8 mm) drill bit, Lag Screws measuring 3/8" x 1 1/2" (10 mm x 4 cm) along with Fender Washers that are 3/8" x 1" (10 mm x 2,5 cm). Do not exceed a 3/8" diameter screw. Refer to your local hardware store for this hardware.

A: Those are manufactured on a frequent basis. The next couple batches have already been pre-ordered, so if you order now yours should ship with the batch after that. If you order now yours should ship within 3-4 weeks. If you wait to order, then it will ship approximately 3-4 weeks from when you do order. once it ships it typically takes 3-7 business days to receive depending on your location.

Q: What is the difference in the 60178 and 60005 Sheds and are they double wall?

A: The 60178 and 60005 sheds are very similar in most every aspect. The 60005 Has a few more accessories included, such as 2 corner shelves, a peg strip. Both include other accessories, and other shelves. The main difference is that the 60178 has a more popular look, and thus has slightly different pricing. Yes, these Lifetime sheds do use double wall technology to enhance product performance.

Q: Does the 30" extension kit 6422 work with 60005 10X8 garden shed?

A: The 6442 extension kit Fits Lifetime 5' long and longer 8' wide Outdoor Storage Sheds that do not have a full-length ridge skylight. This extension kit can be added multiple times, but extending a shed too far may void the warranty. Also, you may wish to buy two for side door sheds, in order to keep you shed symmetrical. This shed is compatible.

A: No, the shed comes in a box and requires assembly. This shed ships on a semi trailer and the shipping company will call you in advance to schedule an appointment for delivery. You will want to have someone there to carry it to the desired location, it will usually take just 2 people.

Q: What kind of foundation do I build for the 60005 storage shed?

A: Before beginning the assembly of your shed, you must pour or construct a platform. There are three types: concrete, wood frame, and road base in wooden frame or pea gravel filled into a wood frame. The actual dimensions of your shed, at its widest and longest points, our 96 inches by 100 inches. Please ensure you select a site that will accommodate these measurements. The floor dimensions are slightly smaller than this; therefore, you will need to create a level surface that is 93 inches by 118 inches. These foundations create a level surface. If you assemble the shed on grass or on an unlevel surface you may run into issues during assembly with the doors closing properly. These foundations alleviate such concerns.

A: Building permits, codes, and regulations are handled by your city and state. We do not know if a specific town needs or does not need you to get a building permit. Please check with your city before ordering to make sure you comply with all requirements.

Q: What should I do if my shed shows up with damaged or missing parts?

A: Please inspect the shipment at the time of delivery and note any damage with the driver before the driver leaves. After which, let us know via e-mail or by calling in. We will get whatever pieces are damaged replaced for you at no additional cost. If your garden shed is missing parts, you can contact Lifetime Products customer service at 1-800-225-3865 and get the missing parts shipped to you at no additional cost.

Q: How long does this shed take to assemble?

A: Assembly times vary depending on the the amount of people assembling the shed and the ability of those working. Generally, if 2 people were working on this shed, assembly will likely take about 8 hours.

Q: Do I need a foundation?

A: The floor thickness of this shed is 3/4-inch. The floor is not a weight-bearing floor and will require some sort of support structure underneath. Typically, a cement slab or wood framework is used as the support.

Q: Do I need to be present at the time of delivery?

A: Yes. The shed is delivered via a curbside delivery, which requires you to sign for the delivery. The Shipping Company will call you in advance in order to schedule an appointment for delivery. Also, the driver does not assist with moving the packages. Please take note of the package sizes and weights in the shipping tab to help you plan ahead to have sufficient help present to move the boxes where you need them on your property.
