Backboard and Rim

Backboard type: Tempered glass with heavy-duty steel frame.
Backboard size: 72 in. (W) x 42 in. (H) x 2 in. (assembly).
Surface thickness: 0.39 in. (10 mm) tempered glass for arena-style rebound.

Great Product

Extremely solid setup. Concrete base was definitely work, but system is extremely sturdy because of it. 100X better than the portable system that we previously had. (Originally Posted on the 60" Mammoth)

Awesome Standard!

We have owned 2 Lifetime basketball standards at the two homes we've lived in. We love them! We recently poured a cement pad in the backyard and installed another one! Creative Design Of Adjustment Mechanism!

After researching several hoop systems, I decided on this 60 Mammoth because it was available with free shipping . . . I dug the hole by hand, hired a cement truck and used a wheel barrow to haul the concrete into the back yard and finished the pier myself with no previous experience. My son and I assembled this hoop together one afternoon. The instructions were clear, but the backboard was awkward to assemble. I was worried about lifting the pole and backboard into position using my wife and I , Grandparents, Aunt & Uncle, and my pre teen kids, but it went up pretty smoothly. Although the instructions said to leave the bolts loose, I tightened them somewhat and the mechanism didn't hold properly at first (it drifted). I contacted Lifetime and they explained that the ends of the bolts should not stick out pass the nuts. I couldn't believe that they designed it to be so loose, but I fixed it and it works perfectly. The adjustment mechanism adjusts the height really quickly and smoothly. I really like how the glass backboard is cut around the back of the hoop where it mounts to the frame so it won't take stress from dunking. This is a great system and I was impressed with the quality of components. I hope it survives our Canadian winters. Soon after install. (Originally Posted on the 60" Mammoth)

Neighborhood Court Kings

We bought this basketball hoop last fall and absolutely love it. The price and amazing quality was great compared to the other high end hoops at the sports stores. We decided to install and set it up our selves and it was easier than was expected. This mammoth hoop is awesome and all the kids is our neighborhood have been jealous and are excited to come and play on it. We are not pro basketball players but the hoop is just like what they use. It is very sturdy and easily can be lowered and raised up to accommodate the little ones and grown ups in our family. We are very happy and highly recommend this hoop to any basketball fans. Solid Hoop That Should Last Years. The Mammoth 54

To highlight some comments made, this is a very nice basketball hoop. We went with the 54 since it was similar in size as to the previous hoop we had. We bought ours as well from Sports Authority (SA) since there was a good deal and you get a significant return using their rewards program. We also used the installers through SA which was Urban Express- Assembly (more on them later) at a cost of $350. INSTALL: Urban Express- Assembly was OK. The process is slow. It took from first contact to completion over 3 weeks. It would have taken longer but we had our Dig Safe work recently completed for the drive way so this shortened the time. You must be proactive and call them. They will not contact you although you are told that they will. The install is labor intensive and I was just not up for the challenge of 13 bags of concrete to be mixed and digging a hole 4' deep and 2' wide plus adding in rebar and such. After we had our date fixed, the process takes two visits. One for the hole and concrete and one for the install of the hoop. The installer in our area covers probably an area of 150 miles easy. He was driving all over the place. Nice guy and very professional. The communication could have been better (afternoon does not mean 8 PM at night. . . . . . . . ). PLAYING: The basket is far more sturdy than the previous one we had with a small 4 pole. This is a solid piece of steel. The basket is easily moved up and down with the shock system. It has a good look and my son is happy so that is really all that matters. That said, I am happy as well. INFO: Basketball Backboard: The Mammoth's 54 steel backboard and tempered glass surface gives this system the professional look and provides the ultimate in rebounding performance. Basketball Extension Arms: Colossal steel extension arms provide superior backboard support and a generous 35 span from the front of the pole to the backboard to create plenty of playing room beneath the basket. Basketball Rim: The high-performance Spring-Flex™ rim features a continuous net hook wire, securing the heavy-duty all-weather nylon net to the rim with minimal intrusion. Double-compression springs allow the rim to spring back from a slam dunk. Basketball Adjustment Mechanism: The Mammoth Pump™ features a revolutionary pneumatic height adjustment mechanism which allows for effortless one-hand adjustment of the backboard from 7. 5 to 10 ft simply by pulling a handle. Basketball Anchor Plate: The unique bolt-down design of our Mammoth systems uses an anchor plate and 4 J-hooks that are cemented down in the ground. The bottom of the basketball pole is then bolted down on top of the J-hooks. The bolts are inserted into slots, rather than holes, to allow for precision adjustments in straightening the pole. This bolt-down design allows for excellent rigidity and precision leveling, as well as later removal of the system if necessary.
