nice hoop, plays great!

We just purchased and installed our new 50-inch Polycarbonate hoop. The setup and installation took us about 3 days, the instructions talk about tools you need so that set us back a bit. We ended up watching this assembly video a number of times for help. However, once we finished the assembly - we all really have enjoyed playing with the hoop. Size adjustment was really easy to do, my 10 year old with a step stool is able to do it. So far it has provided us with hours of fun!

adjust easily

I tried this out in a store to see how easily it adjusts. The picture doesn't show exactly how easy it is. My 12 year old boy can adjust it very easily.

Q: What is the difference between this (1529) basketball system and the 5154 basketball system?

A: There are several differences between these basketball systems such as the backboards Shatter Guard Fusion on 1529 vs. the Square Shatter Guard on the 51544. The bases are also different, the 1529 has a court side base, while the 51544 has a front court base. These differences account for the difference in price.

A: If the Backboard is Adjusted to the lowest setting, then the top of the backboard should be about 10' 9" High.

Q: How Many Gallons can the base hold? will it be enough to keep it upright in a windstorm?

A: This base is quite large and will hold 34 gallons, either water or sand can be used. If you have lots of wind in your area and/or do not plan on moving your system much I would recommend sand. However if you plan to move your system frequently I would recommend water, which can be easily let out and refilled for easier portability.

A: The base holds 34 gallons. If you are in a windy area or are worried about wind, then it is best to fill the base with sand instead of water.

A: There is no published weight capacity. The manufacturer instructions explain that dunking is appropriate on this basketball system, but not hanging on the rim. There is a big difference.

A: Yes. This is an excellent beginner level basketball hoop. The adjustability of this basketball system allows the rim height to be set as low as 8-feet, allowing even young children to reach the rim and start learning to shoot.

Q: Should I use sand or water to fill the base of this portable basketball hoop?

A: Either option is fine. When filling the base with sand, the weight of the base is typically about 1.5 times the weight as when the base is filled with water (depends on the density of the sand you use). A base filled with sand will typically provide greater stability, but will also be more difficult to move around.

Q: Can a young child raise and lower the backboard height?

A: The Speed Shift height adjuster allows the backboard to be moved up and down typically using just one hand. The mechanism is a little higher off the ground, about 75-inches off the ground when the handle it at its highest position (the backboard is at its lowest position when the handle is up high).
