Great shed, a building challenge

This shed is well made, sturdy and roomy. It did take two of us to assemble. Would be nearly impossible trying it alone. A level area is a must as well. We learned the hard way. I leveled to what I thought would be good enough, but we had some issues. I think it took about 10 hours total. A level pad would have nocked it down to about 8.

Lifetime shed 8x12.5

I was a little hesitant in buying a plastic shed but I did based on the reviews. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase, for starts the shipping was fast, the install was fairly easy, the shed really looks awesome, and clean looking. Once put together it seems to be very sturdy. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone looking for an affordable shed. My only suggestion would be that the door latch should have an adjustment so that if the door is off by a little you can adjust it to properly latch, the way its designed there is no adjustment if you run into a problem where the latch doesn’t meet up with the adjacent door jamb it’s quite a job to get it right. One piece of advice for anyone building this shed, make sure the ground is level or else your gonna have problems leveling the doors but that would hold true for any shed.

Good price, and delivered when promised.

This shed is in two boxes that weigh almost 600lbs, so having the shipper drop them in my alley right next to where I was building it was a godsend. Delivery was within the window specified. The shed was in perfect condition, the boxes had no damage, nor did any of the parts. Competitive edge is the ONLY place I found selling this 8x12.5’ shed for less than Lifetime does itself, and with free shipping. We watched the assembly video, and built the shed in one day, with no real problems. It’s a great shed, and Competitive Edge is a great company to buy it from.

Great shed

Lifetime Outdoor Storage shed is everything expected. Durable, attractive, excellent for outdoor storage. Definitely recommend purchasing if you are unsure. I bought from Competitive Edge, I must give the highest rating possible to that company. There were shipping issues (as is with everything right now) and the customer service from them was the best I’ve ever received. Daily contact and updates, they NEVER ignored my calls or emails. Stayed with me until it was delivered and I was NOT an easy customer. I will purchase from them again! Also, all the parts were sent along with the extra parts I ordered. We all know what it is like to miss a part for something. Do not hesitate on this shed and you can trust Competitive Edge.

Very well conducted. Very well designed. Manual not great. But online videos very helpful. No missing parts, extra parts. Good quality. Pleasantly surprised since it took 6 weeks for delivery. Took about 8 hours for 2 people to put together.

REGRET NOT BUYING SOONER!!

I've been needing a shed since we moved in 11 years, why I waited so long to get this. I have been looking at Lifetime sheds for a couple years. Me and my neighbor put it up in about 4 hrs. I prefabbed all I could the day before. EASY Installation if you have any trouble just go to the Built App you can look at anything to see how to put it together. A: Great question! Both models are the same size (8x12.5) and have similar core features, but the key differences are in appearance and access. Model 6402 has a traditional tan and brown color scheme with horizontal siding, two windows, and one set of double doors. Model 60305 has a modern gray Rough Cut™ wood-texture finish with vertical siding, one window, and two sets of double doors — one in the front and one on the side. Q: I plan to buy 6402 8x12 shed. What foundation is better, concrete or crushed stone?

A: My cousin bought this building and I recommended putting it on a wooden platform like the manufacturer recommended. He insisted on us putting it together on pea gravel. So we did and the gravel shifts under the floor and was a pain to put together and the doors wouldn’t line up properly. The building is a great building and would recommend buying one but make sure it’s on a wooden platform or concrete. Do not use gravel.

Q: Do you have a recommendation for someone to put the shed together? Is a foundation necessary?

A: Although the lifetime sheds include a floor, the manufacturer recommends placing the shed on a flat structure such as a wooden foundation made of treated 2x4's and OSB board that you can pick up from your local home improvement store. The instructions (available to view online) show just how to build it and what materials are needed. The other recommendation is a concrete slab. The concrete slab is more pricey to erect. It is very important to make sure it is flat and drains well. If it isn't flat you may run into issues with your doors closing properly. We don't provide installation on any of our items. Most customers assemble these items themselves (and the owner's manual is available if you'd like to take a look at it). If you do hire out assembly, we recommend finding a local handyman through mobile apps like: Takl, Angieslist, Thumbtack and Homeadvisor Another great way to find a local handyman is through your local Facebook Classifieds page.

A: I paid to have mine installed on 4x4 post horizontal runners in a frame with plywood laid over them for flooring. Cost $900 labor to have frame built and shed installed and he worked fast and it was well worth it after watching him work. He worked alone but it is a two man project at times. Very impressed with his ability to do it alone.

A: Anchoring a Lifetime Shed is the last step in the instruction manual. Around the perimeter of the floor are places where you can optionally place anchors for a concrete slab or wooden base. For a concrete platform, we recommend using a hammer drill, 5/16" (8 mm) masonry bit, for concrete screws measuring 3/8" x 2" (10 mm x 5 cm) and Fender washers to go with those screws measuring 3/8" x 1" (10 mm x 2,5 cm) Fender Washers. Do not exceed a 3/8” diameter screw. Refer to your local hardware store for this hardware. For a wood-framed platform, we recommend using a drill, 5/16" (8 mm) drill bit, Lag Screws measuring 3/8" x 1 1/2" (10 mm x 4 cm) along with Fender Washers that are 3/8" x 1" (10 mm x 2,5 cm). Do not exceed a 3/8" diameter screw. Refer to your local hardware store for this hardware.

Does the shed come with ONLY two windows, but they could be on ONE side (with the other side having NO WINDOWS), or does it come with ONE window in each long side, or TWO windows on each long side?

A: It comes with only two windows and you can put them on either side. The panels are 30" wide and the windows are simply built into 2 of the 30" panels.

Q: Does this include the floor? Is the shed white?

A: Although the lifetime sheds include a floor, the manufacturer recommends placing the shed on a flat structure such as a wooden foundation made of treated 2x4's and OSB board that you can pick up from your local home improvement store. The instructions show just how to build it and what materials are needed. The other recommendation is a concrete slab. The concrete slab is more pricey to erect. It is very important to make sure it is flat and drains well. If it isn't flat you may run into issues with your doors closing properly. The official colors of this shed are desert tan (like Almond) walls with a brown roof and brown doors (the brown is more like Putty - a brownish gray).

A: The plastic material very well. It has UV protectant's so the sun is not an issue; however, that size of hail could probably damage any of the sheds we sell including the wooden sheds. A: The maximum roof load capacity is 23 pounds per square foot. On average a cubic foot of snow weighs 15 pounds, but if compacted it can weigh 20 pounds or more. If you usually get more than a foot of snow, you may want to get a shed with a specially designed snow load kit.

Q: Can this shed be assembled so that both windows are on the same side? Are all Lifetime sheds made in the USA?

A: Yes, both windows can be installed on the same side. Lifetime Sheds are made in the USA, however we do have some products that are manufactured in a China facility.
