Richmond 16' Best Barn Wood Shed Kit
The Richmond DIY storage kit offers you lots of room for storage, a great workshop, a backyard retreat, or whatever your needs may be in a large building. This is NOT a pole building. Built with 2×4 construction studs is spaced 16in. o.c. Trusses are 2×6 spaced 24in. o.c.
The first floor has 7ft. 5in. headroom to bottom of 2×8 floor joists. The loft area has 7ft. 1in. headroom at the center of the structure. Both floors offer an unobstructed space so to provide the maximum amount of area to utilize as you see fit. During construction, you may add interior walls in the locations of your choosing.
The Richmond is sold without doors and windows or stairs so that the homeowner can choose the type, style, quantity, and style desired. This allows you to completely customize your new cabin or workshop the way you want it. Order with the optional stair package ( not included ) for access to the second floor or buy the style you desire locally.

The floor and foundation are by the homeowner. The Richmond is a large building and the type of foundation may be dictated by your local building codes. Both wood and cement slab construction are appropriate for this building size. Consider the intended use of the building when deciding on the best foundation for you.
15-lite French Doors. The door opening is 72-in. x 80-in. Doors are 15-lite steel entry doors, pre-hung in a wood jamb with brick mold trim. Included are weather-stripping, aluminum threshold, and lockset. Doors are in-swing type.
Siding
The 3/8" siding is made from wood strands, pressed into a resin-saturated substrate, superior to plywood. A cedar texture is embossed into the substrate, free from knot holes and patches. It comes primed and ready for the paint color of your choice. Latex acrylic paint is recommended. It has been treated with Composibor preventing fungal decay and insect damage. The siding is backed with a 50-year limited warranty.
Doors
An optional walk-in entry door gives additional access.
Pre-hung 9-lite walk-in door includes aluminum threshold and lockset.

Hardware
The Best Barn wood shed kit components fit easily into place with no special tools or skills required. All required hardware is included. Roof edge and shingles are provided by the owner as most customer’s want to purchase that locally to match their home.
Loft
Our Richmond model provides an expansive 2nd level loft floor. The loft area features clear span construction running the full length and width of building. This effectively doubles storage, work or living area with a 7ft. 1in. headroom at peak. 3/4” Structurwood decking over LVL (laminated beams) and 2×8 floor joists increase floor strength. A full loft floor enables you to assemble, then erect 2×6 roof trusses and roof on the loft platform. Order the optional stair package for access to the loft area.
Windows
Optional Windows: Single-hung aluminum 18x27 windows provide light and ventilation. The lockable frames are durable and easy to operate. Screens limit insects, birds, leaves, etc. Window includes raised panel vinyl shutters ready to paint.

Our custom staircase can be installed along either corner of the back wall opposite the doors. The upper landing is centered on the roof peak so as to provide maximum headroom when ascending the stairs.
