Excellent quality basketball hoop. Takes some effort to install but you get what you put with this hoop. The entire family loves playing with it, especially our teenage son. Thank you Spalding for manufacturing a high quality product at a reasonable price! Would highly recommend.

You’re not going to get a better system at this price point. Definitely requires some technical know how, but if you follow the instruction properly you won’t have any issues. Post does not sway and is solid, but I would be hesitant to remove it as it’s quite hefty with the proper amount of concrete filled. If the bolts aren’t torqued down properly and get loose, the the metal washers that go through the glass backboard will likely start rubbing or chipping the glass hole edges. Most people are aware that tempered glass is extremely durable unless there is small impact at it weak points which are usually side edges. Therefore, I would suggest making sure the washers aren’t touching the glass, use thread lock on the bolts and then torque down and it will not likely shift. I used an existing steel pole with this setup. The diameter was 4.5 vs 4 inches, I purchased slightly larger bolts and I’m very happy with the installation. Review Source: Manufacturer

This is a GREAT product at an excellent price. I was not able to find a 60' glass backboard for a lower price, and that its Spalding is a bonus. The nice NBA logo on the backboard looks awesome and the materials included with the basketball hoop are SOLID. Love it! I installed this with the help of only 1 other person, and found the directions spot-on. If you follow the installation manual to the letter, you will not have a problem. It will take you 3 days though to allow the concrete to cure. I would definitely recommend this product and company to my friends

Here are three things you should do: The rim bolts are too long for your average 1/2” deep socket and it’s hard to get a wrench on the nut to tighten them enough. Replace them with four shorter ones if you have them laying around. Second, USE LOCK NUTS! Glass backboards break from loose rims. Replace the four nuts with lock nuts or add the lock nuts on top of the others. Third, the crank actuator - it easily taken apart with one little bolt holding the crank-hook to the shaft. Remove the bolt and pull the actuator apart remembering where the washers/spacers go and GREASE THE ACME ROD threads with your favorite weather proof grease and put it back together. It will crank up and down way easier. They don’t put enough grease on there or it melts off over time. Doing these few things has kept me from returning to customer’s homes for repairs. The hoop I had before was a solid quality ($500) portable basketball hoop. But it was not particularly stable/steady, so my kids wanted an in-ground system. This is a very good hoop for the money. Note that installation of any in-ground hoop is a major pain. If you have the option of paying someone to install it, do not hesitate to do so. Remember that you will have to dig a substantial hole adjacent to your driveway. You will be digging through all the rocks put down as back fill around the driveway. You will use somewhere between 8-10 eighty pound bags of cement during installation.The plastic sheath was supposed to make installation easier with the trade off that the pole may wobble somewhat. However, I ran into problems with the pole not fitting back down the sheath when it came time to replace the pole, which now weighed nearly 200 pounds after filling it with cement! I had to cut away some of the plastic lining. Now the hole was too big and the pole wobbled. I fixed it by filling the gaps between the pole and plastic with metal washers. Then I caulked the gap to prevent water from getting in there and rusting the washers. It worked well. Overall very happy, but installation was a 3-4 day project in stages. Also note, the height adjuster is definitely more difficult than some others that can be done with one hand. This one requires placing a metal pole onto the height adjustment hook and spinning it. My tall 13 year old can do it, but not my rather short 11 year old cannot. Also if you lower the hoop to the bottom and keep cranking it to lower it further, it will shear off the bolt that holds the crank mechanism. My kids did this twice.
