Basic Instructions (more detailed instructions included in package)

1) Find a location to accommodate 27 ft wide by 16 ft high.
2) Clean surface.
3) Unroll stencil sections 1 and 2.
4) Apply tape.
5) Unroll remaining stencil sections
6) Chalk or paint holes.
7) Paint the map.

It was very easy to use. Big and Small Hawaii and Alaska are included. Make sure you choose before painting the dots.

We used this map stencil for my son’s Eagle Scout project this summer. It was easy to use and we were able to get the project done in two mornings. It is true that setting up the stencil would be tricky on a windy day, as the paper is thin. We had no problem laying it down between 3 of us. We then filled in the dots with white paint and connected them with the same paint, so that there was an outline for all the boys to paint. It was a fun project and I know my son was really happy with the result. He did this for his old elementary school and it looked amazing with the bright, vivid colors he chose. It’s a great project and a wonderful addition to any school. We highly recommend it.

The stencils and directions were clear and easy to use. After parents volunteers had done the stencil work, we had students paint the states. We are a small school and each student (K-6) paint a state. I sent home a US outline map with a note for each student. The note identified the state the student had painted and colored in on the outline paper map. We look forward to using it for many learning and fun activities through out the years.

EZ to do

This was a easy stencil to use. I only wish it would have been made of a little thicker paper, but it still worked out quite well!!!

This was very useful with our project, we were able to mark out all the states with the dots cut in the stencil. We used spray paint for each dot as using sidewalk chalk would have washed away during the project time. It is not a strong product so be careful with a windy day. We found to only open one at a time was the best protection for the stencil not ripping and getting destroyed in the process. For the money it would have been nice to have Alaska and Hawaii already cut out as that was a challenge we had to overcome with cutting it correctly. Also it would have been easier to have a more sturdy stencil. Ours may or may not be reusable but we tried to keep it in great shape as we used it. Overall it was the only way we knew to accomplish such a big task of painting the US Map. It served it's purpose.

Q: How much paint is needed? I see the question was asked below and see that you should use white spray point for the outline and select 5 different colors to paint the states but the answer doesn't say how many cans of spray paint and how much paint, i.e., 5 cans of spray paint and 5 different colors, each one gallon).

Q: Does the stencil allow for each individual state to be outlined? The pictures show the colors for each state touching the next, but can you outline each state in a single color like white to create a border around each state?

A: Yes, you could outline each state if you would like, it would probably be easiest to paint the whole thing, let it dry, and then paint the borders, as the stencils are designed to match up with the connecting states.

A: They aren't reusable as they are a thick paper. The paper curls and is ruined after the first use. We don't have any videos, but it's quite simple to use as a stencil.

Q: How much paint is needed and what kind of paint?

A: When applying your stencil to a cement surface, we recommend striping spray paint be used to spray paint the stencil outline. Generally white is selected, but we have used black as well. For painting the large sections, any type of Cement and Porch Paint can be used. This surface tends to widen the paint color selection as most colors can be easily mixed to your color preferences.

When installing the United States Map stencil, we recommend 5 paint colors are selected, with the 5th a quart size of blue to paint the Great Lakes on the map. A Color Guide is included in your map kit

A: The stencil is made of paper, and you could probably re-use it if you took care of it. It might be easier to start from scratch though.
