Spalding Arena Renegade In-Ground Basketball Hoop 888260/888272

Installed 2 Spalding hoops today 12162024 that were initially purchased 092524 for a full-sized outdoor basketball court measuring 79' x 54'. Boxes were delivered and in excellent condition. I stored the boxes outside and covered them with a tarp and no challenges sitting packed for over 2 months. The concrete for the court will not be installed till next season as too cold in our region to now to pour cement. However, the footers were placed in several weeks ago and used 24 x 24 x 48 custom built wooden footers. I researched outdoor hoops for several months and came to a final decision to purchase two arena Renegade hoops. The aesthetics are exceptional, and the engineering of the hoop was well thought out especially the large lever arm overhang so your child does not run into or accidentally get pushed into the pole. The instructions manual was easy to read, all parts were delivered, and the total time of install was about 3. 5 hours with 3 people assisting. I had a small tractor with forks that were used to easily center the hoop to attach to the lever arms making that part of the install a breeze instead of using sawhorses. One word, and one word only is needed to describe the entire process and procedure implemented by Spalding for the Renegade Hoop: COMPETENT I would like to personally thank Spalding as my family and the children in our neighborhood will be enjoying these hoops for years if not a decade or more to come. Assembly above the ground took me and a friend less than an hour to setup The few main parts just pinned together without using a ladder. When assembled, the hoop was ready to lean back and be secured down. Heavy duty but fast Packages were delivered in good condition too. I was worried considering how big and heavy this might be. Any reservations I had about the size or bulk of the system were quickly diminished as this setup is extremely well built and sturdy yet sleek and impressive. The clear backboard view with the direct mount is unlike anything else on the market. It's extremely clean. Is this something you can install yourself Absolutely Yes Spalding did an amazing job designing this system to be top of the class in performance and installation. But Spalding also provides an option for professional installation on their website if needed. The packaging is well thought out and the system delivered with no issues no missing or damaged parts. Each section has its own parts kit to help keep each step simple and straightforward. Digging the 2'x4' hole was the hardest part of the entire build but I had great helpers along the way. I was able to borrow a concrete mixer which helped speed up the mixing of the recommended bags of concrete. Make sure you mix the concrete wet enough so that when you insert the j-bolts and mounting plate you are able to push it all the way down and flush. The 2 direction level applied to the base plate was very helpful with no additional adjustments needed. Tip of the hat to the Spalding engineers on the precision and fitment of all parts.The hinged pole feature was a game changer during the installation of the support arms, backboard, rim and boom cover as it allows you to install everything from the ground without having to use a ladder. The grease fittings are a nice addition and help ensure this system stays smooth and functional for a long time. 2 people can do the install through this process and the sawhorse suggestion for holding the backboard during that install was perfect. You are able to adjust the height of the support arms to lower or raise perfectly to align with the direct mount on the backboard. Standing into place on the mounting plate - I recommend using 3 people for this step to help move the goal into its final vertical position.
