2002 Ford F150. 1st canvas tent. First truck bed tent. Really like it. Have used it three times. Temps in the low forty’s to mid 50s. No issues. Had to modify the bed rail due to the design of my pick up. Could only get one c clamp on and rail has to be much further toward tailgate than recommended but works just fine. Ended up drilling two hole each end. Installed t-nuts into bed and used thumbscrews to secure. Very secure. Can now set up tent with wife in approx 10 min. 15 min solo. Last camping trip, wind off the lake was over 30mph at night. Tent was extremely stable. Loudest noise was the zipper pulls jingling. There’s a lot more details but YouTube covers it well. Once they get the hang of it I think most folks will be very happy. I am. Also Competitive Edge delivered on time as promised. I would use them again.

7206 Kodiak Truck Tent

I received this truck tent in excellent condition. I took the time to set up at home and figure all the ends and outs. I needed bigger clamps because of my Gator bed cover, but it worked out great. The truck cover folded up, makes a great shelf. It took about 10 minutes longer to set up by myself (73) compared to my previous nylon style tent, but well worth it! The square footage is the same, but the volume is much bigger. Taller standing room front to back and wider. I am 5'8" tall and can stand straight up with just my head bend down a bit. Much better than bent at the knees. The quality is excellent and should last my lifetime.

Kodiak truck bed tent.

Excellent quality. Fast delivery. Bit of a trick to setup the first time. Recommend to do this at home before your first trip. Needed deeper clamps for my truck bed liner. But not a problem.

MUST NEED

I've been camping in lots of Kodiak Tents and this one takes the cake for me. It's extremely portable and it keeps me off the ground. I pair it with a mattress and have the most comfortable camping experience ever because I don't have a long setup that I need to do. Perfect for anyone that owns a truck and camps semi-consistently.

Needed a better Tent

I looked at many pick truck tents they all left me feeling like "That won't last" Then I found this tent and didn't even hesitate. Canvas quality is great the zipper is metal and the installation is a snap. The hardest part is folding the Tent to put away :). I sometimes needed a ground tent as well so I made up some plywood frames the same size as my truck and it turns out it makes a great ground tent to with some ingenuity and three sheets of plywood. Oh I also had to hang out in this for 12 hours of rain and light snow and it did great. I was using a little gas buddy to stay warm and propane has some moisture in the burning process so I got a little condensation on the inner pole supports it just ran down the edges so no big deal holds the heat great as well! Thanks guys!

Q: Aren't there two tents that that fit the two types of full size trucks? Can you explain how I figure that out?

A: The full size truck tents are made for trucks between 61-65 inches wide. The 6ft full-size (7206) is for truck beds measuring 5.5-6.8 ft long with the tailgate up/closed. The 8ft full-size (7218) is for truck beds measuring 8 ft long with the tailgate up/closed. Model 7206 - Fits Full-size Trucks with bed length 5.5 to 6.8 ft. Q: How do you (in detail) dry out and store the Kodiak Truck Tent. Years ago, We bought the 14x10 Kodiak tent and used it extensively. In spite of careful maintenance and storage over the years, it still managed to mildew badly. Perhaps it's impossible to prevent this? As much interest in purchasing this truck tent and returning to camping as I have, don't want to get into this situation again.

A: Great question. A tent can't mildew without moisture. At some point the tent was stored not completely dry or in an environment that had some moisture? Most people get 10-20 years out of a Kodiak tent without issue.

Q: I have a F150 short bed, 5.5’. It seems that the 5.5-6’ offering from Kodiak (#7211) would be a better choice than the #7206, which fits 5.5’-6’8”, because of the extra length that must be present on the longer tent. Especially after reading the review from a buyer that said there were gaps on his short bed. Advice?

A: The 7211 is not compatible with the Ford F-Series. The tents are designed for different widths of truck beds, so they are not cross-compatible. The 7206 would be the best fit for your truck. Since these are designed to fit multiple trucks some will fit more snugly than others. There are tension straps on the tents to help remove any slack.

A: Miles I’m pretty sure you’re good to go with the 7206 model. As far as I know the raptor truck bed is the same measurements as the f150 short bed. The outside may be wider but I’m almost positive the inside of the bed is the same. If so it should fit fine, but confirm with Kodiak

A: The 7206 or 7218 truck tent should fit Regular Toyota Tundra trucks from 2016 or Earlier. It does not Fit Toyota Tundra truck models 2017 or later. Trucks with modifications, or untraditional side rails may not work. These tents ship the same business day if they are ordered before noon MST. These ship Fedex from Salt Lake City, and shipping takes between 1-5 days depending on how far away you are. We also have expedited shipping options available.

A: The 7206, and the 7218 are meant to fit the Ford F-series, as long as it is a traditional F-series truck. Trucks with modifications, side boxes etc. May not be compatible. I'm not too familiar with the F-250 series, so I would recommend calling 801-508-2880 to double check if that model will fit the truck tent.

A: No, it is not something you would want to drive with unless you are driving very slowly around 5 to 10 mph. Otherwise it could damage the tent. You can drive a little bit faster if you lay down the shell of the tent-even while it is attached so that you can pop it back up relatively quickly once you've changed your hunting spot.

Q: I have a f150 super crew with a rolling lock cover over the bed of the truck, would this have to be removed to use the tent? How big is the tent in its travel bag and how hard to install? Thank you

A: Yes, you would have to remove the rolling lock cover. The tent bag is about 30 inches long x about 12 inches high and 12 inches wide. The first thing putting it up is a learning experience only because you have to position the part that goes on the rail perfectly and chances are you'll have to move it forward or backward and you can only figure that out once you're putting it up the first time. After that it's pretty easy.

A: Yes I think that it will work with the cover . Just be sure to have a 2 ½ inch x 3 ½ ft place to mount the rail pole flat on the top of the truck bed. You will need to get after market C clamps that are deeper to make it work.

Q: I have a 2002 GMC Sierra long bed with a toolbox behind the cab. Just wondering which tent to order (long bed or short bed version). Would the tent built for a short bed truck fit behind the toolbox without having to remove my toolbox? Or would I have to remove the toolbox to set up the tent regardless of what size I bought?

A: Yes, you will need the long bed tent 7218. Most of the time the tent will fit over the toolbox but if it has any sharp edges you will need to cover them with some tape. Using the short bed tent and leaving the toolbox exposed on the truck will not work.
